Got job, need sturdy flats... what can I wear when I normally live in Converse

Ok, got a job in school type setting. Fairly casual wear, mainly skinny trousers in navy, black, other colours. Breton tops, plain shirts etc. BUT what an earth can I wear on my feet? There is a lot of up and down stairs and rushing around and find all flats like ballerinas are not sturdy enough or slip off the heel.

Need to be able to wear all day. Normally I would wear my high top converse but think I need something smarter but not too smart....

Also what can I wear with 7/8 skinnies?

Please help me...

I wear clarks un loops for work, but they are ugly here

Mumelie · 11/02/2013 13:53

Lurk........
Same in my job. I wear dresses and boots all winter but go towards skinny trousers in Spring. Last year it was some pale grey suede brogues. Might try some tan leather loafers this year - look like they will stay on better than ballerinas.
Love to see if anyone else has ideas/links Grin

What about leather hi tops from Ash or Kurt Geiger?Smarter than Converse but still comfortable.

Hetaera · 11/02/2013 14:10

OK, so these are not exactly the most gorgeous things in the world, but are so unremarkable that they go with most things.

Brogues? Loafers?

ArbitraryUsername · 11/02/2013 14:51

You can get all manner Mary Jane style flats that won't slip off your heels.

WileyRoadRunner · 11/02/2013 14:53

Oh I can't wear anything ugly even if very practical .... In charge of teenagers so I will be torn apart if turn up in anything too sensible!

It's a nightmare ... Maybe loafers but worried they won't stay on securely with all the dashing around.... had considered brogues but I am only 5'2" on a tall day, wondered if I would look too short.

I have the Ash hi tops but may be pushing it slightly!

Tis a dilemma.

Cheap ballerinas are not sturdy and slip at the heel. I have Hush Puppies ballerinas, they have arch support, are very comfy and don't slip. They were about £50 but you get what you pay for

ankle boots? clarkes have loads in the sale at the moment.

ArbitraryUsername · 11/02/2013 14:56
