If you wear ankle length skinnies and ankle boots what do you do about socks?

Sorry I know there are endless threads re ankle boots and skinnies but I've never seen one address this particular dilemma!

I am quite tall and whilst I am careful to buy only longer leg length jeans I do have a few pairs that are just long enough. I have some ankle boots from Zara into which all my jeans disappear neatly but have some h by Hudson encke boots and some ash Beas where some jeans just sit on top of the shoe... weighing things up the boots are a crucial inch shorter and also cut wider. I tend to wear bright socks - not as a fashion statement but because there are five of us and it makes it much easier to separate out the socks if mine don't blend into the black and grey school uniform pile. However this can result in hideous flashes of purple or red marring my outfits. Thinking about it on shots of models wearing ankle boots and shorter jeans there is never any sock visible, particularly not anything loud.

Assume on photo shoots they might overcome this problem by not wearing socks but not really an option in real life in the snow! So just wondering what do other people do?

Trainer socks, the short ones.

Can be a problem if your boots rub on the ankles though.

I've experimented with trainer socks but found them uncomfortable and had a drafty bit.

I've also tried pop sock type things in a flesh colour but they looked dreadful.

I guess I'm deluding myself hoping there is some miracle solution!

I wear plain black socks and push them down so they sit beneath the top of the boot.

youre overhtinking the sock.
buy ones that match ye olde boot

Can you get some of those black socks but with the coloured bits at the heel and toe, iykwim? I know its a pain in the arse to buy more socks just for this, but you'll be able to wear them with your boots and skinnies and see them in a pile of plain black socks :)

I use the bright heel and toe socks across the three kids already, but I guess that probably is the best plan. Will have to extend my sock buying net further to find an alternative heel and toe pattern I think - perhaps mine can be neon.
