A race against time - order before 8pm - but what?!

sillymillyb · 08/02/2013 19:20

I start a new job on monday. Customer facing and I need to be smart.

I desperately want to avoid taking the baby shopping tomorrow so if I can order online I will be thrilled - asos deliver next day if ordered before 8pm.

So what do I get?! I'm flailing about like a flaily thing and therefore prob making this harder than it needs to be.

I'm 5ft 2, size 14ish, prob 16 on top (34F) and I'm broke till first pay day.

Anyone fancy helping? Thanks

Trousers, non polyester if you can with some nice pumps. A couple of v neck jumpers or vest tops with cardis and you can never go wrong with a cople of scarfs.

Next deliver next day of you order by 9 pm.

sillymillyb · 08/02/2013 19:27

I have just switched to next site now -way out my depth on asos!

Will get looking for your suggestions now - thank you gregs I hadn't thought of dressing things up with scarves!

I liked look of this but not sure I am kick ass officey enough to pull it off....

Next awesome! They also do simple dresses that I wear over long sleeve T's to work. Comfy yet smart enough.
Also am a big fan of boot cut trousers and v necks.
Am 5'3 and a 12 but my size 16 friend wears similar and looks better as more curvy!
Hope this helps - happy shopping!

notMarlene · 08/02/2013 19:30

A couple of long sleeved wrap dresses would be a good bet. High chance of a decent fit and only one item needed for an outfit.

here. The model is 5'9" so would be knee length on you.
worth trying at that price
I like the print, you may not
same with this floral

Have you shoes and had bags?

notMarlene · 08/02/2013 19:31

Have you shoes and had bags? [confusion] Do you have shoes and bag?

Hope that doesn't mean I've got a migraine coming on!

notMarlene · 08/02/2013 19:35

did I link to this before?

sillymillyb · 08/02/2013 19:36

Will look at those links now, thank you so much - I'm just wandering from place to place now in a panic!

Shoes: I have a little pair of pointy toed kitten heels that I can walk in and seem to go with most things. Does that sound ok?

Bags.... a plain black smart bag which I hope will do. Its not going to get people dribbling over how beautiful it is, but its practical.

Hope no migrane too marlene too much wine is a much better reason for typos!

No wine yet but thanks for the reminder Grin

Glad you're sorted for shoes and bag. Vaguely presentable coat?

sillymillyb · 08/02/2013 19:40

OOoh love the first dress so have chucked that in basket, think going to stay away from prints for now as i'm poor and if I get those and they look wrong on me then I can't afford to get anything else till refunded. Would I wear it with nude tights? A vest underneath?

Going to look for trousers and a v neck ensemble now!

Thank you all so much, I'm a headless chicken!

sillymillyb · 08/02/2013 19:41

Shit, no coat.... blazer? Totally forgot coat! Mine is smeared in yoghurt and has seen better days :(

OP posts:
notMarlene · 08/02/2013 19:52

this should be this length on you.
blouse
me and my prints again

IME trouser picked at random seldom fit right. Skirt is a much safer bet.

Will look for a cheapish coat.

Can you pay with credit card? THat way refunds should be in before you get the bill and have to pay.

Joycey29 · 08/02/2013 19:54

Maybe too late but Boden do a great coat that is waterproof, hooded yet gets me fab comments.
Also useful for taking kids to park!
Love the dress from the link - go URL and its only 19.54!!!

notMarlene · 08/02/2013 20:00

last item on this page. Not inspiring but a coat and 30 quid.

sillymillyb · 08/02/2013 20:06

Haha, right.... I just got in there before the deadline. Pheeew! Thank you SO much marlene I basically put most of your suggestions in the cart!

Right, so I have:

dress

skirt

blouse

and then I gave in and begged my mum to have ds tomorrow while I chuck myself round m&s (gift card for christmas - hurah!) Hope those links work, I have been shutting window tabs down and getting myself all muddled.

Thank you again, I feel better knowing I have some stuff arriving tomorrow - I already have some cigarette trousers I thought would go with the blouse and look smart, so that's 2 outfits I hope!

Thanks Wine

Oooh will see if I can wing lack of coat monday and will look at boden one and that last coat you mentioned too.

I know its boring, but I just need something practical and cheap - god times have changed from when I would be throwing hundreds at a dress for a night out, never mind an entire work wear wardrobe!
