I am so sick of spending $$$$$$ at the hairdresser only for them to get it wrong that I am tempted to put a semi perm colour on myself.
My hair has gone really quite blonde and I ask for dark/darker but they always put highlights (I like a few but.....)
So if I put a dark blonde semi on myself what is the worst that can happen?
I want my hair to look dark blonde or light brown

Highlights are what all hairdressers convince you to have done so you go back in regularly and pay more money, I had my hair a very light blonde and dyed over it dark brown and it did fade to a gingery colour after a few weeks washing but didn't damage my hair at all, luckily I've gone back to blonde and found a hairdressers that does what I want and doesnt push for highlights!

As the above poster said, it could go a gingery colour or end up looking like a light brown, could also go a khaki colour. It really doe depend on the tone of your hair and the tone of the colour you use. If you were my client I would recommend an all over colour with spaces out foils which you would have done every other visit and just have the regrowth done every 6 weeks. highlights however tend to be more natural looking when the regrowth comes through as you don't have an obvious line of regrowth iykwim?
