41-year-old returning to work after 4 years - what to wear arrrggghhh!

well, in a way, I know what to wear as there's no dress code or anything but I do want to get some new stuff to delineate between work wear and crawling around playing shops wear. It's just finding stuff. What I'm after is this:

  1. a pair of skinny jeans, black for preference, that are really skinny and also really jeans, not made out of some weird stretchy stuff that feels really thin (I really feel the cold and will have a 50 minute commute on public transport)
  1. boots to go with said jeans, low heel, bikerish maybe? No studs (there are studs everywhere! When did that happen???)
  1. Tops - my pet hate. My shape post-DD is dire, I'm short with big boobs, no waist or hips to speak of with big flobby belly. So fitted round the bosom but long or flowing further down? And warm, so good quality jumpers with full length sleeves? Again, prob black / grey.

Had a totally depressing schlep up Oxford Street today, fed up of seeing my gruesome bod in crappy changing rooms mirrors as I struggle into another top that doesn't fit or suit me

I would so appreciate any help - I've got a couple of weeks to get something sorted. It's part-time so I don't need too much.

thank you thank you thank you! I'm going to pick DD up from nursery but will check back later!

anyone? Please? I'm especially stuck on the jeans front, I've had Topshop Kristen jeans but they've changed their material so now they sag at the knees really quickly.

I personally love the red herring super skinniest which are on offer in Debenhams at the mo. re tops, oddly I have found nice ones in sainsbury's which are loose at the top and then have elastic at the waist so sort of hook up and under but float nicely over the midriff. Avoid button blouses at all costs.

Hi, I'm not sure how much you want to spend, but Levi curve jeans are fab.

Regarding a top how about a wrap type top?

I would recommend going for a new bra fitting and making sure you are wearing pants which give you a flattering line.

How about thick tights, low biker boots and an above the knee straight skirt with a jumper?

got a new bra properly fitted today - the only successful purchase I made!

I didn't look in Debenhams so I'll check those out Sizzle. And we have a huge Sainsbo's down the road so maybe I'll drag DD there tomorrow.

Chottle - that sounds a great look. I haven't worn a skirt in donkey's years! I did think of Levi's, are their skinny jeans really skinny? I'm happy to spend a decent amount of money as I haven't done so on clothes for years and I think it's worth it. What kind of pants should I go for - I just wear cotton M&S bikini-style.

thanks so much for this.
