40 soon, feel I look every bit of it

Turning 40 very soon and seriously contemplating a facelift. Not really serious but suddenly feel every minute of my years. I never thought I looked old for my age but recently just look tired and I suppose nearly 40.

Any suggestions to brighten up my ageing face? Seriously thinking of Botox which I'd never have thought of before. Or do I just need a new blusher?

Help!

Fishandjam - google tear trough procedure. I had it last year and I'm so pleased with the results.

Just caught Martha's query about Thermage. I looked hard at getting this done but could not get past the cost of getting it done by a reputable doctor. It's over £2,000 for a full face and it needs to be redone every so often. It might be cheaper elsewhere but Thermage can be bad news when done by the inexperienced or unqualified, so why take the risk? Compare that to £2,500 for a mini-facelift (not for faint-hearted, obviously) but the Thermage failed the cost/benefit test for me.

For the OP, what everyone else said - hairdo, skincare, get to the exact right weight, nice clothes, get hands/feet all lovely, really do a good going over the whole person: then and only then think about other procedures. No point having wrinkles ironed out with botox if skin is rough?

An even complexion is more youthful, so a great concealer is a wonderful thing, and not putting setting powder between cheekbone and eye - keeping that area a bit dewing is much more youthful. A matte look there is mega aging. I only just worked that out a month ago sigh

yoga moves where you go upside down help Grin seriously get the blood pumping - and anything else that does that too

get good haircut - get eyebrows done

dont take photo of yourself on phone by accident - jeez that was depressing

I am going to be 40 within the week and have never, ever cared about my age before but definitely have been looking in the mirror more than usual.

Agree with everyone on here who has said have a good going over Grin. Esp eyebrows and good haircut. I am trying to make more of an effort, just takes time tis all. My DDs always ask me why i am putting so much cream on - eye cream, clinique serum, bit of moisturiser, bit of bb cream.......takes an age........

I never used to make much of an effort at all cos I didn't need to but basically look like a witch now if i go out the house without making any effort

newsgirl - Grin at taking photo of yourself on phone! Also never EVER accidentally put your laptop webcam on and catch yourself on that. JEEZ!!

Grin janmoomoo TOTALLY! keeps happening to me and it's sheer hell. No chance to compose my features into 'mirror-face' (aka what I've managed to convince myself I actually look like) Aaaargh!
