Anyone interested in a 'what we are buying'wearing' thread for those of us who love clothes but have a New Look/Dorothy Perkins/Primark/HM budget?

I love following some blogs and I liked lurking on the AW threads but I can never afford the clothes, shoes and bags that are talked about. I love looking at different styles and then have the challenge of trying to find a cheaper look on the cheaper end of the high street. I'd love to hear what others are finding to give me some ideas.
One of the blogs I follow is doesmybumlook40.blogspot.co.uk, I love Kat's style and whilst she has the odd bit from Primark or H&M there is a lot of Toast, Massimo Dutti, Jigsaw, Whistles and these are just too expensive for me.
So, does anyone fancy sharing tips on good finds on the budget highstreet?

MimikosPanda · 07/02/2013 09:54

Love those links Nipers and Mia, they are shops I would never normally think to look at.

Today is a bit boring because DC and DH are ill so just mooching at home:

Mid wash skinnies - DP (old and should be binned by rights Grin )
Vests - Primark
Cream slub jumper - H&M
Thigh high socks - American Apparel (worn scrunched like leg warmers)
Sheepskin boots - Bearpaw@TKMaxx

Just marking my place, I think this is my type of thread!

freddiefrog · 07/02/2013 10:50

Very boring here today as well. Mucking out kids' bedrooms and painting scenery at school later

Plaid shirt in dusky pink/mushroomy colours - Peacocks
Levi's - via TK Maxx
Converse

Have just ordered this after much procrastination, not usually a fan of studs, but really like this

nipersvest · 07/02/2013 11:01

i'm in scruffs today as working from home, need to be warm rather than stylish!

navy joggers - landsend (i live right by a lands end outlet store and it's fab, so cheap, plus they have regular friends & family days, coats are all £5, pj's are £1!)

navy t-shirts, 2 layered - h&m

emu's - i wear them as slippers - tk maxx

big navy marl cardi - tk maxx

shops i like at the moment, h&m, tk maxx, i trawl ebay a lot, uniqlo, tesco are great for thicker tights.

applecrumbleandcream · 07/02/2013 11:03

Love the cowl neck and studs on that jumper Freddie, might be tempted myself.

Today I am stuck in the house so wearing comfy and warm 'scruffs'.

Black Next leggings
Black River Island vest
Cream and black fluffy DP Cardigan
DP cream scarf

Doshusallie · 07/02/2013 11:11

I really like that dress nipers, but the code wouldn't work online and over the phone they wouldn't apply the discount to an item already on offer.

Today I am wearing:

Slim fit boot cut indigo jeans - New Look
Tan button up shirt - Primark
Slouchy burnished gold colour jumper with gold thread through it - New Look
Rust suede wedge heeled lace up ankle boots - New Look

almostanotherday · 07/02/2013 11:14

Will read through this later as I'm wearing a mixture of Next and F&F (tesco) with a bit of sainsburys thrown in Grin

nipersvest · 07/02/2013 11:16

dosh, the code only worked on the shirt, only advantage was i got free delivery for the dress, so it did kind of save me the £3.99. i like the dress but am a bit worried it's going to be terribly short, will see when it arrives, it can always go back.

Trills · 07/02/2013 11:18

The code doesn't work on anything that is already on sale, and possibly doesn't work on anything that is listed as "miniprice" either.

And you can probably only use it once.

Trills · 07/02/2013 11:19

I had a couple of La Redoute dresses and I had to send them to the charity shop after a while because I realised that they were shorter than I thought they were.

DewDr0p · 07/02/2013 12:32

Great thread. Loving wasting tons of time when meant to be working clicking through to all the ideas.

Today I am wearing:
orange ditsy print shirt - Gap
plain vest - New Look I think?
purple fine knit cardigan - John Smedley factory outlet (beautiful knitwear at bargainous prices, not rock bottom cheap but lasts and washes so well)
flared jeans - Urban Outfitters
brown wedge heeled boots - ancient purchase, FlyLondon, from Office I think.

landofsoapandglory · 07/02/2013 12:57

GingernutButter · 07/02/2013 16:31

I'd like to join too, if that's okay (I'm new here...have been dying for a place to discuss this stuff!). I tend to buy a lot second hand stuff, so it's all cheap regardless.

Yesterday I got a Uniqlo denim skirt from the Salvation Army, for £2.50. (I also found an LK Bennett dress which was too small for me, but I've put it on ebay. Thank you, Jesus!). Also got a little black pencil dress from George...in fact my last two "new" purchases have been from there. Planning to wear the skirt with tights, boots and a slouchy jumper.

I also recently bought fake leather black shorts. They sound awful but they look awesome with tights. (Also...very warm in the cold!).

cocolepew · 07/02/2013 16:59

I got navy linen trousers in Sainsbury's today, £16. They gave a small turn up and I'm not sure if they are tapered or not. I'm going out for tea with my friend so I'll try them on then. If they are ok I'll probably wear a warmish, long top from Next, navy and white stripes with a sequin heart on it.

Today I wore straight leg dark jeans from Asda
A pink and grey Sweatshirt with grey skulls on the bottom, Primark
Navy and white oversized skull scarf, Primark
Navy, suede One Star Converse

Also bought blingy owl earrings from Sainsburys.

sherazade · 07/02/2013 20:23

New Look boyfriend cardis in neutral or bright colours
