Having eyelash extensions next week. I wear glasses, am I wasting my money?

A mobile beautician is coming to do them for a very reasonable price so won't be wasting a lot but I had a fleeting thought before that maybe they'll be hidden behind my glasses? I wear dark framed "statement" (hate that word) glasses if that makes a difference?

Any other specs wearers have fake eyelashes?

I used extensions for a while, i wear contact lenses, but when I had my specs on I would say it certainly helped to 'open' the eye up - ;)

Am very tempted by these as I have a hen do, wedding & big b'day coming up, but I used to work with someone who had such long ones on her eyes looked weighted down and daft. Can you decide how many and how long they are ???

ALovelyBunchOfCoconuts · 30/01/2013 18:45

yes you can choose the thickness and length. they last 4 weeks.

gregssausageroll · 30/01/2013 19:38

You can't have long ones but you can have them to add thickness. If they are longer than what your natural lashes are they will drive you bonkers as they will flick off your lenses.

Charliefox · 30/01/2013 19:47

Agree, they'll bat against your glasses. They look amazing but they do knacker your own lashes, so be warned!

I have worn eyelash extensions for 18 months. I have been away for 6 weeks so i now have none left and there is no damage to my natural lashes. They look the same as they did 18 months ago.

I love wearing them. Make sure she knows you wear glasses and don't want the longest ones.

MrsMeow · 30/01/2013 19:55

Thanks very much everyone, I want them more for the thickness than the length so should be ok as long as I don't have them too long :)

Minibmw, I'm having them done to see whether they'll look ok for a wedding we're going to at the end of march, so a practise run if you like! I don't know loads about them except that you can have semi-permanent which is what I'm having, supposedly they last for 2-3 weeks and I assume they just fall out after so long? Or you can have "permanent" which I assume are the type nefertarii has? They're infilled every few weeks as the lashes fall out.

Looking forward to having them now! A woman I know has just had them and they looked amazing to be fair, really natural!

You have it about right. However I never get mine infilled. When I go back i have whats left (most of them) removed and a new set.

I had them infilled once but didn't like the effect as some had grown out further than others. I have a few friends who have them and they all have new sets as well.

Not sure how much (if any) damage they will do. A friend had the 'pods' done for a while. Its 3 lashes on a tiny pod. Much quicker to put in. About 30 mins rather than the hour to an hour and 1/2 mine take.
