Can anyone help me find something like Mulberry bag for DH that doesn't require second mortgage?

DH turns 40 next month and I would love to get him something really special. Love the idea of a Mulberry Brynmore like this www.mulberry.com/#/storefront/c5488/8511/moreviews/ or this www.mulberry.com/#/storefront/c5488/1548/moreviews/ but can only really afford to splash out £250-300 max. Anyone got any tips for places to look? Have been to Bicester today but they didn't have anything there really in my price bracket(!) Any advice most gratefully recieved!

Have you had a look at Scaramanga? You might find their satchels too distressed/vintagey, but they're really lovely, well made and reasonably priced.

It's a little bit over your budget, but what about this Marc Jacobs one

faustina · 29/01/2013 15:00

how about this?

I was given a laptop case from them for Christmas and the leather is really lovely. It looks much more expensive than it was

squeaver · 29/01/2013 15:01

Or this one, which is bit pricier too here

faustina · 29/01/2013 15:07

this is also very lovely if you can track it down in stock somewhere

Some nice bags there ladies. HAs to be leather though, and would ideally like brown rather than black. That black MJ one faustina is lovely, but a bit over my budget. That Ally one is nice too, but isn't all leather. If I'm spending that much it has to last for years! The Forbes and Lewis one was nice too but a bit plain? Would have been nice in deep chestnut brown.... Keep em coming if you can!

Hidesign do some smart leather bags for under £160...

The Issac

The Edison

The Ferris

The Eton

Thanks enchante, unfortunately they're not quite what I'm looking for. I think I want something with less stitching - more sealed edges rather than stitched seams if that makes sense?

How about these, I covet most of the stuff on this website.....

you said you'd been to Bicester... it might be worth ringing round the Mulberry outlets if that's what you really want? They will post them out to you.

I have that Barnaby you linked to. I bought it for myself, got bored with it and thought it was too masculine, gave it to ds2 the year before his GCSEs as far as I remember, and he has used it almost daily since then. He is 21 in March - I saw it lying on the floor the other day and had a look and it's immaculate (and it really shouldn't be the way he treats things!) - even the canvas strap is still perfect - it's amazing!

Shirley, those bags are lush, thanks for the tip. Faustina, will have a ring round the outlets and see what the prices are like.
