Clothes for 9/10 year old dds but not too trendy

Where can I look for nearly 10 year old dd and what sort of things should I buy? She's quite young for her age in some ways and isn't that interested in clothes yet. Her older sister is easy to buy for - jeans, leggings, tops and hoodies, but dd2 doesn't really like that look.

It seems looking around that lots of girls her age are dressed really trendily, lots of those tutu-type skirts, leather jackets, converse etc.

At the moment, dd2 tends to wear skirts or dresses with tights, or leggings with longer tops. But I think she's starting to notice that her friends dress very differently to her and I think she feels a bit babyish.

Any ideas?

M&S, Zara and Gap are all nice for this age - quite pretty clothes but a bit more funky/grown up (without being tarty). Lots of people swear by H&M as well but personally I never seem to find much in there.

Dd is 9 and has just started to get "into" clothes - worse luck.

She likes Zara. The clothes are European-looking (well, they are European!) and so look chic-ish without being tarty. And the prices aren't too bad - especially in the sale!

New look but you need to choose carefully. My DD is the same age and we have had some lovely knitwear from there.

I get lots of stuff for DD1 (10) from M & S, and leggings from H & M. It's a difficult age as we discovered shopping recently - a lot of the ranges are 9-14 and clearly geared at older teenagers.

John Lewis still have some nice girls things for this age, yummi girls, lost and found and the JL range.
