I'm thinking of selling on a few unwanted things, and I'm trying to decide whether it's worth trying a dress agency in an affluent area or just putting them on ebay BIN.
I've listed the items I'm thinking of below, and I'd be very grateful if anybody could give me an idea of what they're likely to be worth, and what time of year would be best to take them to a dress agency.
Also - do dresses often go for the starting price at a dress agency, or do they usually overprice to start with and then lower as the weeks progress? What percentage of the selling price should I expect to keep?
The things I'm thinking of are:
Ted Baker purple silk minidress - pure silk, very rich Cadbury purple, really beautiful. It's in great condition, and although it's about 5 years old it doesn't look at all dated. I'd gladly wear it now, but it was already tight across the bust when I bought it and is now just impossible to do up
. No idea what it was worth new, I got it in TK Maxx for £40. Small size 10.
Karen Millen black and white cotton dress dress - definitely a work dress, lovely detailing, BNWT £165 (although I didn't pay that), last s/s but still doesn't look dated, very "Mad Men" in style. Unusually classy for KM. Again, small size 10. I like it, but again the bust area is very tight and therefore looks less than great from behind. 100% cotton.
Diane Von Furstenburg black wool dress - lovely oriental collar, wrap style dress, again small size 10. Not in perfect condition but good (very small repair to the V of the collar, not at all noticeable). Was very expensive new, definitely over £200 (again, I didn't pay that, but got it brand new without tags from a friend). I love this dress, but can't see myself needing it in the future. 100% wool.
Oasis pink silk dress - really lovely deep pink summer dress. I don't think it looks dated, but it's very formal and could easily be worn to a prom or something like it. It's never been worn, and was £70 new. Biggish size 10.
Thanks in advance :).
