brush on BB cream or not?

hi,
am using revitalist 10 BB cream,love it!
just wondering if there are any benefits to putting it on with a foundation brush as apposed to using my hands?
was never really sure why the foundation brush was recommended to me as being the best way to apply foundation anyhow...

I don't with mine as it never sinks in and sits on top looking orange.
Whilst the foundation with a brush has a real soft finish
