Anyone have white-blonde hair?

Just a few questions -
Do you use a toner to get rid of the yellow & if so which one?
Do you do it yourself or your hairdresser?
What colour is your natural hair?
What conditioners do you use? Is your hair in reasonable condition?
Is the toner enough to keep it white without too much bleach or is the bleach always necessary?

Thanks

I use a loreal professional silver shampoo it's great stuff, my hairdresser uses a toner when it's done professionally and I maintain it by using the shampoo about twice a week.

Excuse me piggy-backing on your thread. I was just thinking of trying L'oreal Preference Platinum,on my salt'n'pepper hair. I wondered if it compares to pure bleach,in strength. I used a blue shampoo to tone it,in the past. Can't remember the name, but it smelt lovely.

I used to but gave up cos it was so damaged.

I always used Snow White toner by Manic Panic, it really worked.

I normally did it myself, but it was a faff.

Natural hair colour is a tedious dark blonde.

I used any and every conditioner and lots of it. My hair was really damaged.

Not sure what your last question means. The toner just stops it looking yellow, there's no way you could get white blonde hair without bleach.

It's a great look but a lot of work and once it's damaged there's nothing you can really do but cut it all off. I saw a girl at the hairdresser with long white blonde hair the other day and the stylist was practically begging her to get it cut. It was in rank condition, really thin and raggedy. You have to have it in a shortish style I think.

Thanks, what I meant was - how often do you bleach, & how often do you use a toner? Is it just done at the same time?

Do you have an all-over bleach? This is the bit that makes me nervous as although I've been bleaching for years I've only ever had foil highlights.

When I had all-over bleach (years ago),the roots needed touching-up about every 3 weeks. The initial toner was applied at the same time as the bleach, but a coloured shampoo helps keep the tone. A bob is probably the longest length I'd go for,to preserve some condition.

What sort of effect would you get with foil highlights & then a toner?

I have a white blonde crop. It is bleached, then a 'Frosty Milkshake' toner put on. I then use silver shampoo at least twice a week for 5-10 minutes each time. Always a hairdresser- even with a hairdresser doing it, I've had some mishaps, so definitely wouldn't try myself! She uses foils for the bleach, then just paints the toner on after it's been washed off.

I have invested in a TIGI oatmeal and honey shampoo and conditioner from TK Maxx, which are very moisturising, and treat my hair to a good soak at least once a week. Mine is in very good condition, considering how much I bleach it, but it is very thick hair, and in a crop, so who knows what it would be like if it was longer?
