Please help me find clothes to fit my dd.

Hi all, I know this topic is really for adults but I'm really struggling to clothe my 3 year old! She is very tall and very slim. (She has various health issues making her underweight)

She currently lives in George 2-3 leggings but they barely cover her ankles now yet hang off her at the waist. Jeans/trousers are a no go. I just can't find any to fit. She has one set of tights that fit.

I tried her in 3-4 leggings but they fall down.

Anyone know what I can do/where to find clothes?

I have a skinny 4yr old boy and struggle to find clothes to fit him. I've just found waist adjustable trousers in H&M.

My daughter is very slight. She is 8 and we buy lots of things in Next and H&M as they have adjustable waists. I think Boden do too.

M&Co tights seem to be long in the leg for the age they say so they might work

Could you get some cheap leggings and run a new seam up the leg and up to the waist?

My DD is very slim too, and I sometimes find even adjustable waist trousers bunch up too much round the waist.

vertbaudet are sometimes quite good - they do a slim fit range with adjustable waist. And this winter they had some velvety purple or green cargo trousers with a soft adjustable waistband, which all the reviews were complaining the waistband was far too small . I ordered some for DD (and still had to take the waist in a lot!), but they are quite comfy for her. Would prob be in the sale now.
H&M cords with the heart on the knees are good, quite soft, quite slim.

Sometimes trousers with a drawstring can be made a bit tighter if you pull the drawstring tight and then fold the whole waistband over on itself, but it will make the trousers a bit shorter.

I find M&Co tights far too short unlike the poster above! I would say get tights that are a bit too big and pull them up high tucked over a vest, then wear dresses over the top.

Wanted to add - leggings fall down on my DD too - in the summer she wears baby leggings as shorts, but ones that are long enough just gape massively at the waist. I think trousers with adjustable waist are actually a better option.

And going online means you can order lots in various sizes - then hand them back instore if these don't fit.

Primark skinny jeans seem to be really tight too, or wear pinafores and tights? or tights underneath the leggings to give them a bit more grip.

I have found GAP superskinnies much more snug than Primark skinnies tbh

Debenhams tend to be slim fitting as well - I always found them good for my average height but super skinny 3 year old DD.

Just bought my tall/slim 3yo niece some burgundy skinny jeans from H&M and they are a great length - much longer than usual imo

Adjustable jeans still don't fit. Her hips are so tiny that they don't tighten enough, and I can't pull them up to her stomach because they are never long enough.

I hunt down dungarees, but they are surprisingly rare!

Primark skinnys don't fit, dd has a pair of 12-18 month that still don't fit.

I was also going to say Debenham's as their larger girls trousers are tight.

What about adding to the bottom of trousers and/or dungarees - use a nice flowery material and it will look intentional.

Elasticated braces might also help, I remember always having to have them when I was little :) They're easier to slip off when you need the loo than dungarees, too.

I'm crap at sewing but might rope my mum into taking some of her trousers in.

Not a style I am personally keen on, but at least you wouldn't really need to worry about them being too short.

John Lewis have some girls dungarees up to age 4.

if the trousers/jeans fit on the waist but are too short why not just wear boots with them and tuck them in?

I used to have to buy a bigger size for the length and then ajust the waist - if they had an elasticated one.
Tesco, next and H&M all make "skinny" fit trousers - and then you can shorten the elastic in the waist on the ajustible bit - or are they still too big if you try.
I also used to unpick the waistband on leggings at one of the seams and sew the elastic shorter in it so it stayed up on DD.
I used to have to do the same with skirt waistbands too.

Adjustable waist skirts and tights might be an option? You don't have to worry about fit on hips then. I've got some from next & gap as dd has no bottom and skinny legs. Would she consider pinafore-style dresses if you didn't call them dresses?? Or jumper dresses if you just call them jumpers!! Also footless tights may solve some of the problem, chunky cable size with decent socks. They tend to be narrower in the waist than leggings.
