How to wear this jumper? and also flat ankle boots needed

Im new to the world of skinny jeans and fashion, i still wear my bootcuts day to day! im trying though. I bought this jumper online from dp's

www.dorothyperkins.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?beginIndex=0&viewAllFlag=&langId=-1&storeId=12552&catalogId=33053&parent_categoryId=&categoryId=&productId=8140752#BVRRWidgetID

Usually if im going to wear skinnys i wear thigh length tops like tunic jumpers so it covers the tops of my legs im a size 10 - 12 but carry my weight there, im finding it hard to find those those most jumpers seem to be short, can i wear a top underneath as the necklines quite wide and it looked odd? or should i just be brave or send back.

Also desperatly need everyday boots to wear with skinnys my current ones let in water! they need to be flat though preferably with a bit of grip

much thanks

I wear my jumpers like that with a vest or top underneath. I wear a longer top so there is more thigh coverage than with just the jumper.

JeffFaFa I am newish to this too. Am wearing old bootcuts today....dont know how I feel about them TBH. I want them to be stylish cos I have enormous generous thighs.

I found this lady a good source of inspiration. I look nothing like her, not colouring nor height nor budget; but I like her irreverence.
I bought a similar jumper in (whisper) Next and wear it with £12 H&M skinny jeans and I think I look trendy....(ish). Always worn with a long vest or, in this weather, a heat-tech top from M&S+ scarf. Top fills in in the gaps at the neck and covers my bum and thighs.

if you carry your weight on your thighs (like me) then dont be tempted by skinny jeans, no matter how fashionable they are

ah good to know i can wear tops underneath i truly am clueless, i have no long vest tops though will need to invest, any idea where to go the long style ones?

ive tried to escape skinny jeans all this time but recently been looking at other women while out and dont seem to see anyone under about 60 in bootcuts its skinnies, leggings, slim cut all the way i feel really old fashioned, im only 27 really want to start making an effort but still be practical.

H&M have good long vests. I got nice ones in Oasis. Once you start to look, you'll see them everywhere.
I am much much older than you, and I agree. I feel like I missed a turn in the style world while I was having babies, breastfeeding etc.
I havent bought anything expensive as its not my favourite look, I dont think its great for those of us with womanly Blush figures. But dont want to lose touch again either.
I will always gravitate to a wide leg trousers, or a wrap dress as my natural home.

Have you looked at short dresses over your jeans, instead of tops? You might find they give you the length you want.

mewkins · 22/01/2013 18:30

Hiya, esprit.co.uk do excellent long vest tops in their basics for 12quid with some colours in the sale for 8.99. Free delivery and they are lovely quality- cotton with a bit of stretch. H and m are good but their standard ones are now shorter so I have to get the vest 'dress' which is just about long enough (I am fairly tall).
As long as your skinny jeans are fairly dark they shouldn't make you look wide of thigh.

thanks for all advice, will check out the links. I think alot of it comes down to confidence i have body issues any way, i keep trying to tell myself that at my size my legs cant look that bad but my brain dosnt listen.

Ive definatly got lost in the pregnancy/mum stage i like familiarity but i just look frumpy :( meantwhile i will pray for the revival of the bootcut!

now to find boots....

Well i had a look around shops today, im rural so not much choice, but checked out new look, dorothy perkins, asdas and tesco tried on all black vests and none were long enough to cover my bum! im only 5'6 so not exactly tall.

Im looking at these in h and m
www.hm.com/gb/product/98585?article=98585-A#article=98585-B

anyone know if these ones are long? and what their sizing is like in general, nevere shopped there before and will need to be online, 60 miles from nearest store.

The vest dresses are reduced to £5- £7.99 at H&M, they will be a great length if you are tall.
