The one I've got smells lovely - like Chocolate orange, although it's a bottle from Primark by the tills and may well not be 'pure' and have had a fragrance added!

revolvenotevolve · 18/01/2013 15:17

Does it do the job Lakota ?

It seems nice enough, put a bit through wet hair and added a bit more once I'd dried it, like a serum. Only used it once, it was a mini Christmas gift, bottle is only little.

trikken · 18/01/2013 15:22

my one smells pleasent but its tresemme and has the same smell as the other tresemme products so maybe it actually doesnt smell that much.

BiscuitMillionaire · 18/01/2013 15:22

Yes mine smells rather unpleasant, sort of like damp straw.

wickedfairy · 18/01/2013 15:30

Yep, my organic stuff smells like camels piss, it disappeared quickly though!!!!

SummerRainIsADistantMemory · 18/01/2013 15:32

Mine smells gorgeous. It was a cheapy mini bottle from next to the till in the chemists so lord only knows what's actually in it. Seems to work perfectly though.

smoothieooo · 18/01/2013 15:34

Mine smells lovely too - but is a Lee Stafford one so probably not the concentrated good stuff (although works pretty well on my frizzy barnet)

HyvaPaiva · 18/01/2013 15:41

Natural argan oil shouldn't smell like that, OP. Now that it's a 'fashionable' oil, I'm not sure about the branded products' scent or if they add anything, but I've been buying it (very very cheaply) in Morocco for years and it's just a sort of 'nutty' scent.

UterusUterusGhali · 18/01/2013 17:36

The Primark £2.50 stuff smells lush. Like orange oil.

SoldeInvierno · 18/01/2013 17:44

The very expensive organic one that I got in a specialised shop smells a bit like salad oil, but the smell disappears quite quickly. I suppose the scented ones are mixed with other oils to make them nicer

Pinot · 18/01/2013 19:11

Mine is pure organic stuff and has a unique smell! Dissipates quickly though

Wrigglebum · 18/01/2013 19:53

Got mine in Holland & Barrett and it smells odd, reminds me of salami for some reason. Not too strong though and fades quickly. It's 100% argan oil.

Most argan oils in the shops are the usual mineral oil/sillicone mixtures with a bit of argan thrown in - usually less than 5%.

Always read the ingredients list. (Even if this is a zombie thread resurrected for spamming purposes!!)

malika1 · 21/04/2017 19:42

Hi Haffiana .. That is a really important point.
It should read "pure" or "100%" Argan Oil to be sure.
I have seen products in UK supermarkets that just say "Argan Oil" in big letters on the packet but if you turn it over and read the ingredients they are a long list of the usual chemicals with probably nearly no argan oil.

Some of these "fake" products are quite well known brands and in big name health stores in the UK so you really need to check!

Ibelieveicanfry · 21/04/2017 20:21

Yes mine smelt EXACTLY like manure. Made me way too paranoid to actually use it... so annoying.

XiCi · 21/04/2017 20:23

The 100% argan oil smells very nutty

applesareredandgreen · 21/04/2017 21:55

The Argan oil my hairdresser uses is lush - smells nutty - gorgeous. Don't know what make.
