home dye or hairdressers?

hi, I have been dying my hair at home to cover up my Grey's. I am using so called permanent dyes but they are fading and the Grey's showing through again in just over a month. if I got it done professionally at the hairdressers would it last longer? are their dyes stronger and longer lasting than home dyes?
TIA

I didn't find the salon dyes to be any better than the ones I use at home, I went to quite an expensive salon, they had a half price colour offer and the salon owner did my colour, despite saying I wanted brown and not black the colour still came out way too dark, I was told it would fade in a couple of weeks and it did but I felt I paid a lot of money for the same results I get at home, the only positives were I didn't make a mess in my bathroom and they put the colour on evenly, but I can do and ok job myself. I found they took ages to mix and apply the colour and it took ages to develope, much quicker at home.

I've since dyed my hair at home, wanted dark brown but not black,I find they all come out much too dark, I used nice and easy light golden brown and only left it on for 10 minutes, got a much nicer result not too dark and covered greys.

Forgot to say I wash my hair daily and dye it every 5/6 weeks, someone said to use sulphate free shampoo to stop the fading, but I like to chop and change each hair wash.

Buy dyes that claim to cover 100% grey hair, every brand have them. They are coming a bit darker if your hair is not very grey. I personally like the L'Oréal Excellence, pink box.
