Shrunk my best ever jumper :-( Please help me to find a replacement

Title says it all. I accidentally put a wool wash on a 40 degree cycle. Amazingly most things survived, but my absolute favourite cosy jumper (in fact my only really warm jumper) has died Sad.

It was a kind of cross between a polo and a cowl neck, hip length, chunky flecked / oatmeal ish wool, fitted enough to be flattering but baggy enough to look relaxed. I bought it in America a few years ago so can't replace it with the same thing.

DH, lovely man that he is, has offered to buy me a replacement. I am sort of considering these: in nougat or in pebble. The nougat coloured one looks the same colour as the dead jumper, but a completely different style (and I'm normally an 8, which is sold out, I'd need to try a 10); the other is quite different but looks like it might serve the same purpose - i.e. cosy jumper to wear with jeans on freezing days.

Any recommendations for lovely woolly jumpers gratefully received - or suggestions of where to look? Suspect most places are moving on to spring stock now.

Sad about jumper. I read a thing about re-sizing them with conditioner. Hold on.

Fear not. Try eBay. I trashed a cashmere dress in November, designer didn't have any lurking around but I've just found it on eBay bnwt! Grin

Scroll down to tip number 11. Here it is. Might be a pile, but worth a go. What have you got to lose.

HonniBee · 14/01/2013 18:11

I've used Tip 11 on a pair of woollen trousers (in fact more than one pair... What can I say - I'm notoriously rubbish at washing) it works wonders!

ReturnToPlanetVenus · 14/01/2013 18:20

Thank you, am off to give that a try - nothing to lose!

this? I realise it's not a jumper and ecru is sold out in your size, but I have two of these and they are just what you describe, apart from having buttons! If you're interested in it, sizes sometimes come back into stock with returns, or sometimes they do have them if you phone and ask.

Jumper has been soaked and (v gently) washed and is not drying... am not convinced that it has been salvaged but will see!

Lady, actually that is really quite close - the colour looks very similar, the jumper's neck was much baggier but I do like that cardy and I think that the overall effect would be much the same - will call Boden in the morning if jumper first aid hasn't worked, than you for that.

I think it's works best when you keep stretching it slowly as it dries.
Good luck!
