Where do you buy costume jewellery?

I'd like to update my wardrobe by getting some new jewellery but I don't know where to start looking.

I have a few fashion pieces from Topshop and the like but I would like something more durable.

I'm 32 and wear quite simple, classic clothes and I want to add a bit of interest and colour. I don't want to spend too much, no more than £50 for a key piece.

Can anyone recommend any jewellery brands that have something a bit different to offer?

Oddly enough I have a necklace from Dirothy Oerkins and whenever I wear it I always get complimented. The beads seem to pick up on the colour of whatever I am wearing.

It really depends on your taste.

I love East for Jewellery I always buy some in the Sales

It's not super cheap but I LOVE Stella and Dot. It's really good quality and very different. I used to buy a lot in Topshop/Dotty P but I found that although the pieces looked fab, they tended to fall apart easily after not much wear Hmm.

Superdrug does the occasional pendant which catches my eye Wink

I have a couple of beautiful Kate Spade necklaces.

At the moment I am loving Biba, House of Harlow and Miss Selfridge.
I'd rather spend £50 on a Vintage piece though as it is more unique & will hold it's value.
Asos Marketplace has good vintage jewellery.

I like Oliver Bonas for new things, and John Lewis actually have quite a nice offering of vintage stuff. Also Etsy and ebay for vintage stuff - I particularly like crystal necklaces from the 50s and that sort of thing. I quite like some of the Lola Rose semi-precious stone beads, but not the really huge pendants.

Thank you for these suggestions.

I like some of the Stella and Dot pieces and already love Kate Spade but have never considered the jewellery.

Off to investigate the others and may send DP a few links to give him birthday inspiration Wink
