What will fix my nasty dry hair

I have wavy ish thick hair and the hair at the back of my head has always been more wavy than the hair at the sides. Since giving birth the bit at the back has gone a really horrible texture, dry, almost matted. The follicles are all bumpy and basically quite pube like.

Surely there is a product out there for me?

Have a read of this thread Smile

there are quite a few similar ones here as well.

i do know that sulfur lauryl sulfate (SLS) - which is an extremely harsh industrial chemical that is used to clean oils is in alot of your usual products. So not surprising it's drying

you can get sls free, you just need to read the ingredients. Smile

Waitrose do a good range, Boots do a Naked range and holland and barrats do some as well.

Coconut oil. Apply two teaspoons or so once a week to the scalp and comb through. Leave on for a couple of hours or overnight and wash as usual next day. Make sure you don't use more than a pea size amount of shampoo each time you wash.

Coconut oil is great to wear over night as a conditioner.

L'Oreal Extraordinary hair oil is fantastic too.

Can anyone link me to coconut oil to purchase online? I have had a look but there are just so many to choose from!

I buy the jar from Waitrose in the baby section - it's £2.

Thank you all. I'll get some coconut oil and cut/down change shampoo. Hair really not curly enough for curly girl - is be more bedraggled messy girl!

I use the first one on the list, its lovely. I use it on my face and body too. If you google it it has hundreds of uses, a spoonful in rice or porridge is yummy.

I use coconut oil once a week.

I've also switched to the Naked shampoo range (got it in Boots) and it's made an amazing change. My hair was extremely dry and now it is so smooth and shiny. I use the kids' version on DD too (toffee apple).
