We have been invited to a wedding in July, ds will be 18months. Where can I get him an outfit that is not cute but not a minature version of a grownup's wedding outfit (iyswim).

Monsoon do some nice stuff although pricey

hulababy · 19/04/2006 18:34

Agree that Monsoon do lovely clothes, definitely suitable for a wedding.

When my little brother was about this age we went to a wedding and my Mum dressed him in a Thomas the tank engine bowtie and waistcoat he got more attention than the bride Blush he did look gorgeous though.

I think she just picked that up on the high street, their is loads around just have a good look.

Im going for 3/4 length shorts a shirt and tank top in pale blue. Got these from an independent baby clothes shop but also have a look at Vertbaudet. To be honest you have to search hard and there is not lots about.

CHICagoMUM · 19/04/2006 18:50

I just don't now what to go for. We aren't involved with the wedding party so I don't want to go over board, but would like something a little more special that trousers and shirt without going ott into the mini tux/kilt typ ensemble.

Vertbaudet and monsoon have linen trousers/shorts and white shirt/polo shirt combos. My ds is a page boy at a wedding this summer and he has got an outfit from \link{http://www.rrshop.co.uk/index.asp?level1=INFANTS\Rachel Riley} traditional, but quite pricey.

Ralph Lauren do some nice stuff - I got some from House of Fraser

desperateSCOUSEwife · 19/04/2006 19:24

have you checked local market stalls
they do them for around £20 a suit
and a proper miniature one

madmarchhare · 19/04/2006 19:49

We went to a wedding last year with DS (then 18 mos). We went for bermuda type trousers because it was summer and a tank top that could be taken on and off depending on weather etc.

Twinkie1 · 19/04/2006 20:09

Next & Debenhams do nice little linen suits for kids that aren't too twee. (Sorry have huge problem with dressing DS like DP when DP hates wearing a suit - I want DS to be relaxed and comfy when we go out for a special occasion!!)

CHICagoMUM · 19/04/2006 21:29

Exactly my sentiments Twinkie1.

My DS is just 2 and he will be page boy (in name only!) at my sister's wedding in May. I have got him beige 3/4 length trousers, a brown and white striped shirt and a brown tank top all from vertbaudet (mila Blue range). All except the tank top arrived today and it's really nice on. I'm going to get some nice chunky sandals to wear with it.

I wanted him to look smarter than average but not all gussied up. It's a Scottish wedding and DH has a horror of small boys in kilts so I feel he looks exactly right. I had a look at Monsoon but it was a bit too dressy for us, and I thought maybe for older boys? Hope you find something.

Bozza · 20/04/2006 11:36

Would deffo look on Vertbaudet if I was you.

We are off to BILs wedding in Italy in Sept and it is impossible to find linen shorts and matching waistcoat for my boys.

Clothes are so casual atm. Makes me cross.

Next do really nice linen cream/beige 3/4 length trousers which we got our ds for wedding last year - really nice good mix of smart casual and only about £6. Got him a mid blue collarless shirt with 3 buttons from GAP in the sale and he was sorted.
