North Face Metropolis Parka - any good?

Has anyone got the North Face Metropolis parka, the long quilted down one and can tell me if it's worth the £250 price tag?

I've got the Zara equivilant which is lovely and snug, except I've only had it a month or two and it's already looking tatty with feathers coming out the seams. It's a popular coat, and I've seen others wearing their's in the same condition too. It was only(!) £89.99 though. Would the North Face one fare better?

My lodger has it in cream and I am IMMENSELY Envy of it. Her boyfriend bought it for her for Christmas. It is gorgeous and feminine as well as being practical. I have a v boring unisex NF puffa jacket thing that's years old. I wish I could afford the Metropolis.

If it lasts as long as my boring jacket has then it is worth every single penny of the £250 price tag in terms of cost per wear. They are indestructible, go through the washing machine and tumble dryer no problem.

No feathers coming out the seams yet then? I might have to ask you to report back next winter as to how well it's lasted!

I'll ask her! However, by next winter she won't be living with me as she's moving to be with the parka buying boyfriend.

I've just bought one. I wanted it for a long time but could never justify the price tag then one came in the sale on Amazon and combined with a gift voucher I had, I managed to get one for £75.

It's nice, it's a good fit but I'm slightly disappointed that its not nearly as warm as I thought it would be. It's no warmer than my cheap old gap one.

Honestly? I'm glad I didn't pay £250 for it.

I ggoogled to check it was the one I tried and first google brings it up for £175

I have the black one and have had it for approx 5 years now. I love it and it is definitely my 'go to' coat on winter. It is really snug and flattering. My only issue now is that I fancy a waterproof coat that is snug too. I have just bought the NF Juneau but comparatively, it is so heavy that I am not that I will keep it. So I would say the fact that the metropolis is super light is a great feature too.

I have the cream one and have had it for 3 years now. It washes brilliantly and is lovely and cosy, however it's not waterproof, which is a real pain for the school run as you never can trust the weather here in Manchester!

I bought a Merrell Ellenwood in a grey colour in September and have not worn my NorthFace since.
