Can anyone recommend good cashmere jumpers please?

Hi all!

I really want warmth without bulk and loads of layers as I'm outside quite a lot and pushing a double buggy to boot! So I wanted to try cashmere and thought I'd get something in the sales. So does cashmere work? And if it does, where have your most successful buys come from please?

Bargain here!

Or I really rate Uniqlo cashmere.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 09/01/2013 20:22

I bought one in Tesco (£20 reduced from £40) machine washable.
I haven't worn or washed it yet (I've ordered a long top to make a twin-set)

Brora are supposed to be the Diamond Standard (but £££) There's a sale on at the moment.
Or Uniqlo - but they're all DryClean (and I CBA)

Or M&S?

HomeEcoGnomist · 09/01/2013 20:25

Pure Collection - have bought a few nice things and they often have a sale on

The M&S ones are lovely and soft but do seem to bobble quickly. They also come in some truly hideous designs and colours.

Can the Uniqlo stuff be handwashed or does it have to be dry cleaned?

AmberNectarine · 09/01/2013 21:30

I machine wash my Uniqlo (30 degree wool cycle) wih no adverse effects . That dry cleaner had 40 quid off me this week, I'm buggered if he's getting more than that!

Rattitude · 09/01/2013 21:34

As HomeEco said, Pure Collection is good and fairly reasonably priced. They also seem to have offers all year round if you sign up to receive their catalogue.

HomeEcoGnomist · 09/01/2013 22:16

...and I machine wash mine too

Corygal · 09/01/2013 22:22

So do I. Comes out waaay better than the other high-street cashmere. Also Uniqlo cashmere has that lovely milky smell of pricy cashmere.

There is a tenner off Uniqlo if you spend more than 50 quid there at the moment, too.

Failing that, TK Maxx. Cheap and some very faine labels.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 09/01/2013 22:24

Cheers. Won't order online but will try and have a tootle down to London at some point for a cashmere trying on sesh.

Thanks everyone, I've had a look at the links. I might try getting someone to sit the girls for me and do a trial of some. I want to see how they feel and fit.

Woolovers are good too...sizes come up large so if you are ordering, size down. I have a merino & cashmere cardi from them and it really is warm, but went bobbly quickly...but a bobble-off jobby soon sorts that out! Much cheaper than Brora etc. Hth.

isadora077 · 16/10/2015 20:10

Uniqlo - and bung in the machine on a woolly wash.

chanie44 · 16/10/2015 21:00

I wash my uniqlo cashmere in a pillow case and it was fine. i destroyed it when it came out of the pillowcase mid cycle - came out full of holes.

leadrightfoot · 17/10/2015 08:26

Another vote for Uniqlo amd wash it in machine

justasecond · 17/10/2015 12:11

After handwashing for years I now wash mine in a lakeland zip up bags with woolite detergent on a handwash cycle in the machine, comes out brilliantly.
I hope uniqlo is good as I just bought one from there. Dh had one last year that bobbled so badly after a couple of wears that I returned it. I have a Jcrew one which is prob the best quality of all the cashmere I have. Whistles is the worst for pilling.

nickEcave · 17/10/2015 14:34

I've just bought a lovely one from TK Max for £50. Think the label was something like Maddison and Mercer.
