The Mutu System - rather than just buying unflattering clothes to cover me up.....?

Has anyone on here tried, and succeeded or failed? I am keen but not sure if I have the willpower and if it really is that good.

what is it?

ReturnToPlanetVenus · 09/01/2013 17:38

Watching with interest as have also considered this. I tried the Tupler Technique and definitely did not have the willpower (no online coaching though - just buy the stuff and away you go). By contrast I'm doing the 30 Day Shred ATM and getting great results, even for my tummy (had diastasis recti - still about 1.5 fingers I think - Julie Tupler says to never, ever do a sit up if you have this, but notwithstanding this and because life is too short to do her exercises, I'm doing all of the 30 Day Shred abs stuff, and it seems to be working).

ReturnToPlanetVenus · 09/01/2013 17:39

PS, don't just buy the clothes!! I've done this for the last 4.5 years (other than the bit in the middle where I was pregnant), and recently had the realisation that actually I was spending a fortune on clothes to try to look better, when what would really help was to be more toned and flatten my tummy.

RayofSun · 09/01/2013 22:56

I think you just described me return. I will try to maintain my will power and keep shredding because you are so right!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 09/01/2013 22:59

I have this and it is fab. The workouts are REALLY short, really effective and you can even manage them with kids in the room if you are mega pushed for time.

I have slacked badly since being ill at the beginning of December, and then having poorly children and then Christmas. But I must get back to it, because it does amazing things for my tum.

chutneypig · 10/01/2013 07:12

I have and found it worked a lot better on my stomach than the shred did, just from the exercise point of view. The food side is really very good too, am just getting back to it after a slack December. I'd definitely recommend it.

Chicinwellies · 11/01/2013 20:57

Ooh thats really interesting, and think I am going to go for it. I mean its really only the price of a couple of items of billowing midrif concealing clothes so I guess theres not a lot to lose (apart from round my waist). Heres hoping!

Let us know how you get on, Chic - if it works I might give it a go too

eggdipdip · 12/01/2013 08:37

I've done it and can really recommend it. One of the best things is the Facebook group that Wendy runs - lots of support from others. And Wendy is always on hand to answer questions or give you a helping hand.

MoodyDidIt · 12/01/2013 10:59

ooh this sounds good

my tummy is my problem area no matter what i do, diet or exercise i can never fully shift the flab

is it a work out dvd? or do you go to a class?

MoodyDidIt · 14/01/2013 16:22

bumping to see if anyone will share with me what this is :o

Hopefully · 14/01/2013 16:44

I have to say my immediate thought was that it was some typo of a http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muumuu system - perhaps a life plan where one wears shapeless garments forever more?

Hopefully · 14/01/2013 16:44

link fail. muumuu

chutneypig · 14/01/2013 19:36

It's online, so very convenient from home and fits in with life generally. I'm not sure if we'd be allowed to link to it but if you search for MuTu system it should pop up.

MoodyDidIt · 15/01/2013 08:06

ok thanks chutney will have a look

eggdipdip · 15/01/2013 19:22

the link is for the facebook page and for the actual homepage

HTH Smile

eggdipdip · 15/01/2013 19:23

should say, I have no financial links or interest, just a happy customer Smile

Viviennemary · 15/01/2013 19:37

Sounds quite expensive to me. Still if it works then I suppose it must be worth it.

MoodyDidIt · 15/01/2013 19:59

it sounds great but honestly, 57 quid for a fitness dvd... Hmm

can anyone link me to any workouts that might have found their way on to youtube ;)

chutneypig · 17/01/2013 06:34

It's not just the workouts, the food angle and dietary support is great. I think the biggest plus is it doesn't assume you have acres of time, there's a phased introduction of exercise and food that helps to make to part of life.

MoodyDidIt · 17/01/2013 08:03

hmmm....not worth the money tho IMO

natsmilton · 21/01/2015 13:55

Hi folks, even though a lot of these posts are old, no doubt there will be others newly interested in Mutu system or with diastasis recti...just thought I'd share that I did fork out for the 12 week mutu system. I haven't had the willpower however, to be really rigid and do this every night...I seem to do for a week then give up, not because I don't like it, but because life usually gets in the way! Plus my lack of willpower!!

So, I have about a 3 finger width gap at my bellybutton, but funnily only a 1.5 finger width above and below it...I noticed when doing Jillian Michaels 30 day shred that my lower stmach looked kinda wierd when I was doing crunches etc and not like it should so decided I would stop doing those incase of causing any problems like worsening the Diastasis or giving myself a hernia! I would say that if you chose to ignore your problem, you'll probably be fine and your abs will still strengthen...however if you google abs with Diastasis recti you'll see that a pronounced 6 pack with this problem ain't a good look! So I'd not recommend going ahead until you at least try to address the problem.

So Mutu...as I've not completed it or got past Intensive Level 1 I can't comment for majority of the dvd, but can comment on first level. I do believe that if followed religiously this will address and improve the problem it's meant to tackle as it focuses on pelvic floor and core strengthening plus ensuring you have strong glutes which is important so you don't move about in the wrong way and give yourself backache!

I'd say even just by doing the core exericses and intensive workout maybe 10-15 times over a 4 -6 month period (!) this DVD has definitely made me a lot more aware of things. So in conclusion, I would recommend this DVD! However, I think the pricing is prohibitive and it definitely is overpriced for the evident low budget this was produced with (given simplicity of setup, lack of music variety).

natsmilton · 21/01/2015 13:57

Oh, and PS, as I'm not on facebook I didn't join the support forum although this might be a good idea for me to do! Might just register again just to join that!

zippyandbungle · 21/01/2015 14:01

Is the exercise part not just pilates? It looks very similar in the trailer.
