I have been coverting these boots for AGES!

Are they actually nice though? I suspect I have looked at them for so long I don't actually see what they look like anymore. I also suspect that I don't have a lot of things they would go with. Could I wear them with a skirt being chunky of calf?

I quite like them. I wouldn't wear them with a skirt though (I am also chunky of calf)

Love the boots but I don't think they would go with a skirt (exceptionally chunky of calf)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 08/01/2013 19:26

Love the colour and the leather looks good but I don't like that bow thing at the back. They could be okay with mini skirts, but not on chunky calves, I don't think. I think you could get something more versatile, especially at that price.

I like Hudson- I have a couple of pairs of their boots. I find that they tend towards being narrow fitting, which suits me. The main problem with them is the leather sole, as it's slippy. I get rubber soles added, but it's not an ideal solution.

I quite like this style but I wouldn't wear them with a skirt.

I love the bow. I think they're lovely.

Would it be terrible to order and try on at home with some of your existing clothes? Worth a shot....

.....outfits that spring to mind are:

Nordic patterned leggings, denim shirt, blazer and scarf

Black opaques, black skirt - above knee length, stripy knit, slouchy beanie

Slim fit cords, vest, oversized sheer shirt, statement necklace

Skinny jeans turned up to sit above top of boot, oversized grey marl sweatshirt, prairie hat

Slim denim jeans, patterened shirt, long cardigan buttoned up and belted at waist

Checked shirtdress, burgundy tights, cardigan

Thanks everyone - much as I love them I can't see that I will get the wear out of them. And AwkwardSquad if they come narrow I don't stand a chance (chunky feet too!)

Back to the drawing board then. I live in dresses/skirts and tend to be stuck in the knee length boot for winter and flats for summer. I think ankle boots for me would only be a trouser wear and I only own 1 pair of trousers.

Is there an alternative to knee boots/flats that won't accentuate my chunky calves?

Ankle boots that come in tight to the ankle, eg lace ups? I like the brogue style pair on the Hudson site, as an example. I have a similar pair which I wear with skirts.

I really don't like them, and I think if you are slightly chunky of calf then they would look a bit 'sloppy'. IFKWIM?

I think something a bit more structured would look better, maybe more of a shoe-boot style and possibly with a heel or wedge.
