I adore these Boden white brogues, do I really need them? can I get them cheaper elsewhere?

lovely

What do you think? I'm seeing them as a great spring staple with jeans, 7/8ths etc. I like the chunkier style of brogue, but haven't actually bought any so will I really wear them? £110! surely there must be some less expensive ones somewhere?

Clarks do a nude brogue for £55, plus you can get 10% off with vouchercloud.
here

I should warn you though that I have a pale grey suede pair of brogues and never wear them as it always looks like rain/ might be muddy etc - nightmare! I only have to look at them for them to get grubby...

polyhymnia · 08/01/2013 18:40

I like them . Would be surprised if Clarks' were as nice. Personally would boringly go for the tan because of rain etc.

polyhymnia · 08/01/2013 18:43

Also if you wait a bit a Boden 20% off code is bound to come along.

prelim29 · 08/01/2013 18:49

primark have some nude 'patent' ones for a tenner

NotMostPeople · 08/01/2013 18:58

My dd has some Primark brogues and they're not as chunky more slipper like, can you remember what the nude ones were like?

I've had my eye on the Clarks tan ones for a while but I love the pale colour, I spend so much time in Wellies I'm hankering after something impractical but not for £110.

nice but only for summer

prelim29 · 08/01/2013 19:22

The primark nude were in stock last weekend, obvs not as well made or chunky as the Boden ones, the primark have the usual flimsy sole etc but for occasional wear you can't go wrong!

Boden ones are gorgeous though

MadAboutHotChoc · 08/01/2013 20:01

I saw a woman wearing something similar with turned up slim fit/straight jeans and she looked fantastic.

NotMostPeople · 08/01/2013 20:07

Thethersend the Dune ones could be a good alternative, my credit card is itching. Thanks

I love them. I have a very similar pair I bought a couple of years ago from Zara and I wear them as often as I can.

I saw these in Gap today and thought they looked great.

These look great and are amazing value if you are a size 3?

I am sure you will find something, you really don't need to spend £110.

kaiserfootmuff · 08/01/2013 22:09

how about \link{http://www.office.co.uk/womens/office/perspective/30/12779/36017/1?fs=12779\these} i quite like them myself

brogues really remind me of the 80s and swing out sister

SilverSixpence · 08/01/2013 22:15

The white ones are a bit tap dance for me. I also tried on the gap ones today and thought they were great, very soft leather (I'm waiting for a code though!)

NotMostPeople · 09/01/2013 17:09

Not a 3 sadly.

Kaiser - I was a teen in the 80's which is probably why I love them. I may be near a Primarni tomorrow so will investigate the nude ones, in fact for £10 I may well just get them and see if I actually wear them.
