Am I mad to consider Supercuts for highlights?

I really want to start getting highlights again but my normal hairdresser has recently quit. My main reason for wanting highlights is that my hair is going grey and I find them the best way of disguising it. I used to have them before, then I decided to go dark again and started home colouring. There really are too many greys now though, I want to go back to highlights, but I know I'll have to have them done v regular and I'm very stingy with my hair so I'm after a cheap hairdresser!

My hair is very boring long mid brown, naturally straight, surely any trained hairdresser can do highlights? It's £60 for full head and cut.

well it's only hair
if it's a disaster you can fork out for a repair job
go for it .

or get a recommendation for a mobile hairdressers..they're much cheaper

Where are you? I pay £75 for a cut and half head of highlights, £50 every other time for just roots and cut. I am in Yorkshire and this is comparable to what a lot of middle of road salons charge here and very little more than supercuts. My lovely hairdresser is very good - used to work somewhere very expensive pre-children.

Unless you live in Chelsea I would think asking for recommendations for a good stylist will probably get you something in similar price range and far less risky.

Are you signed up to groupon? I had highlights for about 18 months recently and got it done regularly at a variety of differemt hairdressers. Most were 29 quid for full head highlights amd cut.

I had mine done at the hairdressing college once but it took forever and they were washing out one side while she was still putting the foils in the other side ss she was so slow! Also missed out on the included haircut as the colour ran over to closing time.

Am in Essex and £60 is good, my old mobile hairdresser used to charge £50. I'd rather find a mobile hairdresser but no one I know seems to know of any! I've used a local college before, took ages and besides, they're only open during the day whilst I'm at work.

I had thought of groupon, but don't fancy trekking all over the place for a cheap colour every 6 weeks.
