Help me find some dresses I can wear in the day as I'm sick of skiing jeans and want to a little more polished.

Size 14 and 5'7

Come help me find some nice dresses and show me what you have?

I'll watch your thread as am same size and 5 8 and also want day dresses. I was looking for a nice jersey dress, sort you can throw on. Also fancy a nipped in waist one for dancing.

mirpuppet · 01/01/2013 19:49

Check out the White Company -- if there's a store near you probably better selection than online.

juniperdewdrop · 01/01/2013 19:50

Quite like this one.

Stylelostinlabour · 01/01/2013 20:31

Was hoping for less casual than white company and with a bit of colour. I see loads of people wearing nice dresses, tights and ankle boots and look lovely I however can't find anything I like getting quite moody about it now..

Lots of nice ones here

Stylelostinlabour · 01/01/2013 20:39

I like some of the white stuff ones but its like boden round these parts and want something a bit more unique - ungrateful girl that I am

ElfOnTheTopShelf · 01/01/2013 20:42

I like Dorothy Perkins for dresses.

daisydoodoo · 01/01/2013 20:45

Not unique but I wear dresses everyday. I buy from all over im a 12/14 and 5'9". Favourite shops include new look, top shop, Dorothy perkins, monsoon and m&s. For more casual dresses/tunics I like white stuff fat face and joules.

Stylelostinlabour · 01/01/2013 20:46

Me too but just can't see any on the website or in the shop as its one of my first port of calls

iloveblue · 01/01/2013 20:52

Stylelostinlabour · 01/01/2013 20:56

I've just bought this

www.muselifestyle.co.uk/product/0003843500/indi-&-cold/clothing/dresses/patterned-dress/sandia/patterned-dress-sandia-indi-&-cold-clothing-dresses.html

(sorry links are awful on iPad!)

It's from a label called indi & cold which is Spanish I think but does beautiful muted dresses, this one's much nicer in real life. Great plains are great for dresses too.

Firstly though, work out what suits you - eg I MUST have a denied waist - anything that's remotely empire or has waist directly below the boobs (what's up with that? Are there legions of woman wondering around with waists directly underneath their boobs? (there could well be, I'm 5,10" so a bit gargantuan)) makes me instantly six months gone. So find your shape and then you can start happily hunting....

knitknack · 01/01/2013 21:07

Defined NOT denied!

libertychick · 01/01/2013 21:09

what about Oasis?
navy print
this animal print
coral acorn print

and lots more!

Stylelostinlabour · 01/01/2013 21:11

Thanks knickknack - I know what I don't want nothing floaty floaty nothing empire or waist up by my boobs, I have the shape in my head but can't find them so probably don't exist.

OP posts:
knitknack · 01/01/2013 21:19

Can you describe it at all? (love a challenge me, and lots of other posters)

Stylelostinlabour · 01/01/2013 21:36

Right here goes

Nice material and not black (so not my colour)
Just above knee so not showing knickers when I bend over
3 quarter sleeves
Darts at side but no empire or anything else that looks maternity

Like this one at the top but not the bottom

www.warehouse.co.uk/floral-pleated-bodice-dress/dresses/warehouse/fcp-product/6213092699

Like this one but not so tight

www.warehouse.co.uk/floral-print-day-dress/all/warehouse/fcp-product/4543081899

I like this but not the neck

www.warehouse.co.uk/bow-print-keyhole-front-dress/dresses/warehouse/fcp-product/4543080899

Does that help?

OP posts:
knitknack · 01/01/2013 21:40

Blimey - you've just described the dress that I'm always looking for!! I see SO many dresses, especially in Warehouse and DP's that would be PERFECT if they were 6 5-6 inches longer! I'll post any I find and will lurk with interest! :)

Stylelostinlabour · 01/01/2013 21:45

Oh and no bloody ties round the back either should be that hard should it...

I think I like this one but alas no sizes left
