I'm sure it's been done before, but thoughts on leather/leatherlook leggings?

I may be having a Loose Women moment, but fancy something leather that can be worn with a slouchy tunic. I was at lunch with a glamourpuss yesterday who rocked them, but at 42 (albeit a youthful 42 ) will I look like Denise Welch on a night out? Or can anyone suggest some beauties?

well they do seem to be in at the moment. There are a couple of blogs that show off the wearing of said leather leggings. I bought a black pair recently from Dorothy Perkins. I'm 45 and a tallish size 10. I think they look ok; the only adverse reaction has been from 13yo DS (and I won't be taking fashion advice from him any time soon).

More of an evening look for me, though.

Checked out the links - ended up buying the Isabel Marant Dicker-style boots on Mango (thanks to School gate Style's mention!), but think the leather trews may have sailed - in my size anyway. The Dorothy P ones were just what I was looking for, but sold out in smaller sizes. Dammit. Will keep looking, but it seems to be the same story whichever store I visit.

They are a pleather flash in the pan

I went out on Friday night and every other 40+ year old was wearing them - it was like being on the Loose Women Christmas night out...

Im 36 and mine are from topshop the £30+ ones not the coated leggings. Surprisingly flattering and like you I wore them with a slouchy top. And studded wedge shoe boots. Definitely a different look to my ususl one but very refreshing and received lots of compliments.

I was tempted to wear them with a very sparkly tunic but was persuaded quite rightly by the lovely ladies on this board to keep it simple on top.

For me they are most certainly a night time look.
