Oh Goodness has anyone seen the new leather Le Pilage in the flesh?

I've seen photos and I absolutely love it, love the le pilage but the leather would make a great everyday bag.

which one do you mean NotMost? I've just ordered two which were on sale - they're the same size as the large ordinary lepliage shoulder tote (except there's one more inch of handle). They're discontinuing the tote ones, but there are others .... which are you talking about?

they do look nicer in the flesh (not so shiny) - they are quite big though

Oh all this 'why would anyone pay that for a handbag?' gets a bit tedious and joyless. Why not just shove your possession in a Tesco carrier and have done with it?

Sorry no joy sucking intended here, if it's what you like & you can afford it why not? Not sure what the exchange rate is but I'm pretty sure $490 is about how much I bring home a month after bills, child care etc & there's just no way I'd spend a month's pay on a handbag, I thought the £50 I paid for my last one was extravagant.

Handbags aren't really my thing...but show me a gorgeous pair of shoes for the same price & I'll cry for ages

I thought the link went through to Selfidges to the new leather ones not the usual fabric with leather handle. The fabric ones come in a number of different sizes so I wondered which one the leather was most like as I've only seen it online.

I can show you some handbags that are a lot more expensive, I didn't really get the expensive handbag thing until my DH bought me a beautiful Chloe bag one Christmas and now I love having a good quality bag. It's still going strong five years later.

It's lovely. Classic, goes with everything and anything and will last for donkeys. And that's why it's worth the price.

The Le Pliage bags are beyond dull and the leather one really isn't nice (I've seen it in the shops).

It's not the price of it that is a problem for me, it is just a bit boring.

Bonsoir is the leather one not nice or is it just a design you don't like? I appreciate they are ubiquitous but that's not always a reason to dislike something.

Hmm,what is "mixed-race" leather?
I've got one of the fabric bags which is really just a glorified shopping bag good for carrying my week's salads and yoghurt into work on a Monday or for taking into town for shopping or even with swimming towel and costume for use instead of a gym bag. But it doesn't work as a handbag.
Are there more pockets/dividers inside the leather one?

well I just unwrapped my bags and the leather on the taupe one is not at all cheap looking - it's much much nicer than the photo - lovely and soft and pliable. I haven't really investigated the black one yet. Mine are the bog standard big shoulder totes - like the nylon ones, so not the handbag.

If you google the purse forum and lonchamp le pliage cuir there are loads of photos of the handbag kind, with the shoulder strap - not just full of paper like they are in the shop, but being worn by people. I must say they look really nice.

anyway - that's the quality ...as for boring, yes they are a bit, but that's exactly what I want. I find I use my nylon le pliages often at the moment - sometimes as my only bag, sometimes as an extra bag - to carry a laptop, ipad, papers, overnight things. I've used them so much I've knackered my nylon taupe one so it needed replacing, and this is just as light (really important for me as I travel a lot) - only it looks nicer - really the leather is lovely

They are for when I don't want to hurt my shoulder with a big heavy proper handbag.

...and it is lined with a silky print, and has a big zipped pocket

I love these! I have a navy nylon one that I use loads, I haven't seen leather ones before but I REALLY want one now!

if you want one the same shape as the one I have you'll have to be quick because they are discontinuing them. I got mine from Harrods. They have them in the sale section of the longchamps site now, but they are sold out, and they are full price on the selfridges website. There might be some left at the longchamp shop if you're in london - maybe you could call? I have seen them at john lewis too, but not online. They are only doing the handbag shape for SS - and a really huge travel bag size
