Coast 'Chrystle Sparkle' dress...anyone got it? Is it worth the money?

I spent ages looking through dresses on-line last night for a ball in the new year. Don't want a 'ball dress' as such and I prefer short rather than long. I hate my arms showing and fancy something a bit sparkly. So came across this and it's my favourite out of the hundreds I looked through. However it's also one of the only ones I looked at that wasn't in a sale! Coast Dress
So does anyone have this and can tell me if it's really worth over £200!!?? I know that I should go and try it on but can't get to shops until after Christmas and am worried they may sell out of my size by then. I am 5' 7" and a size 10-12. I'm also 44...am I too old?!

I'm not too keen on that frill thingy at the bottom.

I love it, its gorgeous
And you are younger than me so still very much at your best!

HyvaPaiva · 23/12/2012 18:30

This Coast dress is more classic (the trumpet hem of the Chrystal is going to date badly and is often unflattering). It's also sparkly, covers the arms, plus it's in the sale for almost half the price of the original one. It's lovely.

It's gorgeous but bound to be reduced after new year. I guess though you could buy now and then return it and buy a sale one if it does get reduced?

pod3030 · 23/12/2012 18:37

i prefer the second dress too, much classier, though both are lovely.

Onezerozero · 23/12/2012 18:40

I like the first one more. I don't think you are too old!

HyvaPaiva, the one you linked to on the ASOS site is actually even cheaper on the Coast site here:
Green Coast Dress but it also gets bad reviews, they all say that it ends up with the lining hanging below the hem, So I was put off that one. Having said that, the Chrystle one hasn't got any reviews yet, so maybe it would get the same sort of feedback!! I really need to drag myself to the shops and actually look at dresses don't I!! Thanks for your comments everyone. Grin

Coast are a bit monsoon IYSWIM, always quite a risk of having a dress doppelganger. But, TBH I think the dress is a bit off the mark anyway.

this is beautiful
very, very good for the price
similar shape to the cast one but less frump, oh, same in grey
the first (and probably the last) time I've linked boden!

I wouldn't wear a dress that short to a ball. Longer dresses look much more elegant IMO.

hellymelly · 23/12/2012 21:39

I am about your age, and while I think women should just wear what the hell they like, that ruffled skirt looks rather girly girly to me. I think the dark green one is a more grown up shape. I don't wear short skirts -i like a more vintage look- but would wear the green if it was longer.

MerylStrop · 23/12/2012 21:45

Sorry I think the first one is just weird
The pattern of the sequins is really "old"
The dress shape is childish rather than youthful
Together its just a bit dodgy
The green is stunning, though
