First night with new man - help me look amazing please!

So, have met a gorgeous new man and first night shenanigans are on the cards :) Post-separation from my ex, I haven't slept with anyone else in over 11 years - yikes! Slightly scared about baring my post-baby body to someone new. Am a size 10 but not toned in the slightest, saggy arms, cellulite city on bum and thighs, and wibbly wobbly C-section tummy :(
Oh, and the biggest lady garden bush in the world!

Please can someone give me some tips on:

  • Waxing - what type at a salon is best (what's the difference between a brazilian and Hollywood for instance?)
  • Where to get sexy (but not slutty) lingerie? Am normally in boring M&S t-shirt bras and nothing matches...
  • What to do to begin to blitz afore mentioned wobbliness fast (in about 2 weeks!!)

Thank you!

Hollywood is all off, Brazilian is landing strip. You can just say what you'd like though eg. all off underneath with a neat triangle at the front.

This is lovely and not at all slutty. The matching knickers don't look too uncomfortable either.

Not a clue, let me know when you find out.

Pootles2010 · 20/12/2012 14:08

Don't forget he'll prob be nervous too - most men are just happy to see a naked lady in all honestly Grin he won't be looking at your tummy love...

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE · 20/12/2012 14:12

You could try jillian michaels 30 day shred for 2 weeks, that'll tone you up and its only 20mins a day.

3ForMe · 20/12/2012 14:16

Cream underwear with black lace is sexy not slutty-cream underneath with black lace detail on top.

Wouldn't go completely hair free down below as its not everyone's cup of tea. Just a really good tidy up, trim and get the hairy area smaller iyswim. I think that's a safer option for a first time.

Good luck Wink

3ForMe · 20/12/2012 14:18

La senza does an ok price range of underwear.

John Lewis for something a bit more special.

Don't worry about wobbly bits! I'm sure he won't be working out ready for the big night! (But Zumba is good)

tigerbear · 20/12/2012 14:46

Thanks everyone!
I like the look of the Elle Mcpherson lingerie...

Right, I'm well up for The Shred - can it be bought in high street stores or does it have to be ordered online?

Pootles - the reason I'm a bit nervous is because he works in fashion and hires models for high profile shoots with big brands!! Arghh!

Tigerbear I was going to write an almost identical post! I might have to steal some of the suggestions.

I need to boost my confidence a bit though so I believe I look great in the new underwear etc. Like you, I have come from a long term relationship which lasted 11 years. I was obviously in my 20s when this started so was a lot thinner and toned. 3 kids later and in my 30s the thought of someone seeing me naked fills me with dread!

I have Shredded and have definitely lost weight but need the confidence to go with it. And how the hell does one do "alluring" and "sexy" again?? The fact that your new man works with models would be enough to have me running to the hills!! Or drinking far too much wine and making an arse of myself!!

Clumsasaurus · 20/12/2012 17:12

Have a google of Zaggora the hot plants zapped my cellulite and firmed p my legs in 2 weeks :-) Santa is bringing me their blazer :-)

Clumsasaurus · 20/12/2012 17:13

Pants... Not plants!

Loveleopardprint · 20/12/2012 18:27

He will probably be very happy to see a woman with curves rather than a stick insect.

AlwaysWantingMore · 20/12/2012 19:59

How exciting! Grin

I personally am not into waxing and would just go for a nice tidy up down there rather than any fancy landing strip. I would be a bit worried that of it was all off, or nearly all off the first time, he would expect it to be like that all the time!!

I find I look better and feel more confident with a bit of a tan. Would you consider a subtle spray tan? It depends on your colouring, but I am ridiculously pale naturally so like just a touch of colour to take the edge off the extreme whiteness for special occasions.

Regarding underwear, I think the shorts/French knicker style is way sexier than a thong, and just a nice matching set in black, cream, dark purple, something along those lines sounds lovely.

Good luck and have fun!

bishboschone · 20/12/2012 22:04

Do you know what primark have some lovely non slutty matching underwear in bigger stores . Lets face it it won't be on long and tht way you can buy a few sets and not worry about the price .

tigerbear · 20/12/2012 22:52

Superdeeduper - same, I was 24 last time I was single!!

When is your big night?? And how long did it take to see any sort of results doing the Shred?

Bishbosch - I bought some Primark recently and was pleasantly surprised - might have to go and get some more.

Also, does anyone have any suggestions for an amazing body cream that genuinely makes a difference and feels silky?

puds11isNAUGHTYnotNAICE · 21/12/2012 10:58

i always liked palmers coco butter. Smells good too.

scripsi · 21/12/2012 11:54

a magazine photographer friend of mine used to entertain me with tales of his "days at the office" with models - generally mentioning how much body makeup has to be applied, how they can't hold a conversation etc. so I think you have to remember that he has chosen to see you - there is more to life than just what you look like.
Having said that, I think it is great you want to look your best (I could do with doing the same). I would recommend little shorts rather than thong and I am also a recent Shred convert. I have had very light fake tans (I am ridiculously pale) and would say that it also helps - also the scrubbing and moisturising you do in preparation helps!
I would also get a pedicure and manicure (but in particular a pedicure as then your toes will feel all silky).

polyhymnia · 21/12/2012 12:02

Clarins hydrating body cream is excellent. Dont forget to exfoliate arms and legs first for a silky result.

Not an expert on waxing of lower region as I'm blonde and have never had any very unruly growth - also in my young day it wasn't such a big preoccupation. But I agree that good tidy rather than completely hairless is probably better.

Definitely shorts/ French knickers, I think too. As classy looking as you can afford.

I like really good fake tans and have used them for weddings, etc, but think I'd be a bit wary about it at this time of year, unless you know a really good and reliable salon that you've used before.

polyhymnia · 21/12/2012 12:03

YY to pedicure.

Sidge · 21/12/2012 12:12

I was you a month ago Grin

I bought some gorgeous undies from Brastop.com, Figleaves and M&S. I prefer short-type pants (those soft lacy ones) rather than thongs that I spend half the time picking out of my bum.

I don't wax mine off but had a good tidy up! If you're going to wax don't have it done the day you plan to get jiggy as you may have a rash.

Shaved legs, body lotion (I've got Garnier Intensive body stuff in a green bottle which leaves my legs really silky) and a whiff of perfume. Subtle make up (I wear lipstain rather than lipstick so it doesn't get snogged off) and heels.

I was petrified as I hadn't been with anyone else since meeting DH 18 years before, and my self-confidence was at a record low. But he made me feel so sexy and desirable and wanted which blew away all my fears. You will have a blast - I feel like a new woman now Smile

twentythirteen · 21/12/2012 17:14

Uff, hope you have a great time but am so glad not to have to do this myself for the forseeable future.

Anyway, he'll probably just be thrilled/anxious that it's happening.

I'd just tidy myself up rather than wax it off - but that's me.

I'd also be concerned about the bra/pants, would just try on a bunch of stuff until I found something that I felt sexy and confident in.

When I had my "first night" after a break up of a 10 year marriage I had the same worries, but on the night of the event it was fine. I was actually concerened that I wouldn't know what to do! I still remember that night fondly now, in the end it wasn't about how either of us looked or what we did. I hope you have a wonderful evening!

tigerbear · 22/12/2012 16:46

Thanks for all the advice everyone, however, the big day/night has been brought forward - to TOMORROW!!! Whilst beyond excited, I'm slightly petrified too. Have spent bloody ages tidying up the lady garden (no time to go to a salon to be waxed, so have attacked it all with a razor - bit lop sized, but not to worry :)

Have moisturised and scrubbed, painted nails, and bought new underwear last night (beautiful style from Primark, knickers look good but the bra doesn't fit very well so am off out again now to find some more).

Wish me luck! He is planning a whole afternoon/evening session - lucky me! :)
