I get a huge thrill from discovering new things, usually from a friendly recommendation of the ‘You-have-got-to-try-this’ variety. So I thought that I’d give it a go.

There’s no great agenda here. These are just things that I really, really like, and wanted to share. More will be added each month, or as I think of them. Some of them you’ll know, others are a little more obscure. But then, that’s how we find new things…

My Favourite Albums:

Coldplay – A Rush of Blood to the Head
Morcheeba – Big Calm
Bjork – Debut
Mylo – Destroy Rock & Roll
Cocteau Twins – Four Calendar Café
World Party – Goodbye Jumbo
Keane – Hopes and Fears
Various - Hotel Costes Vol.6 Mixed By Stephane Pompougnac
Various - Hotel Costes Vol.4
Gotan Project - La Revancha del Tango
George Michael - Listen Without Prejudice
Royksopp – Melody AM
Various – Music to Watch Girls By Vol.1
Radiohead – OK Computer
Morcheeba – Parts of the Process
Bent – Programmed to Love
Primal Scream - Screamadelica
Peter Gabriel – So
Air – Talkie Walkie
Bebel Gilberto – Tanto Tempo
Thievery Corporation - The Mirror Conspiracy
The Aloof - This Constant Chase for Thrills
Bjork – Vespertine

Sandwiches:

  1. Pret’s Rocket and crayfish
  1. My own: Parma ham, parmesan and watercress

2½. The chicken kebab wrap from the Lebanese café round the corner from the office is very good, but they can be over zealous on the chilli sauce.

Things I’ve stumbled upon:

Images of Delight
www.imagesofdelight.com/

I found this a bit by accident, but ended up becoming a customer. If you’ve ever wanted to get your hands on some of the original artwork that adorns many contemporary children's books, this is the place. You can either shop on the site, or get details of exhibitions (I went to one and can recommend it).

Lovereading
www.lovereading.co.uk

Much as I love Amazon, this book site has a more clubby, intimate feel to it. The best (and cleverest) bit, is that you can download the first few pages of new releases. If you want to know what happens next, then it’s probably worth buying.

georginarf · 11/04/2006 10:55

ah DD wears boden but via Ebay usually

things look nice by crap on me (feel that's prob my fault rather than Boden's though)

might boycott it now in horror at the poncetastic isle. they should just entitle it 'Isle of Ponce' and be done with it

cod · 11/04/2006 10:58

zippitippitoes · 11/04/2006 11:07

I like the children's illusration site..I also was up the garden path

believing this was cod's recommendations but couldn't therefore understand the ponce remark

also couldn't understand the isle of boden title thought it was just a lure to get people to read

so you don't have a little lebanses place round the corner form your office then cod?

colditz · 11/04/2006 11:07
desperateSCOUSEstrife · 11/04/2006 11:10
