Sparkly black dress - for a wedding?

Would love some opinions on whether I can get away with wearing a glittery black Xmas party-style number to a wedding in Jan. Registry office followed by hotel meal. No dress code.

Never worn black as a wedding guest, but not keen on spending loads on a one-off outfit and most of my wardrobe is black. Is it still considered bad luck or just a bit boring to wear black?

i wouldn't. i would only wear black or sparkly to a cocktail type thing. i like to keep weddings more colourful and understated. i also like the tradition of not wearing white or black. sorry.

I agree with spuddy.

I think it will be fine if you team it with non-black shoes (eg silver sandals or red platforms or leopard courts), red lipstick and a white coat.

I think I will play it safe and go with a navy blue dress I've seen and dress it up a little with bright shoes etc
Grateful for suggestions, thank you Xmas Smile xx
