I have very dry and frizzy hair and the only thing that works for me is to rinse my hair (after washing) in cold water.

Oil is probably the best thing for your hair, eg, coconut, almond

JTN , it is uncooked egg yolk you're probably thinking of
i'd recommend monthly hair mask with warm coconut butter (warm the butter in a bowl over boiling water, apply to hair, wrap in clingfilm, put towel on top to keep warm, spend 1/2 h hinding from the world, then wash as normal)

or a generic hot oil hair mask from any chemist/boots /supermarket etc.

try a good conditioner every other wash and i second final rinse in cold water

yoghurt is good as a facila mask for oily skin, honey as facial mask for dehydrated skin, flour wouldn't do much for anything, have never heard of oats oil before!
be careful what sort of oil you use because some of them (like olive oil) take ages to wash off!!

thanks branster - damm only have olive oil will wait now til tomorrow as dh is moaning so have to turn the lights off.
