Gel nail kits to use at home? Any good? Which one?

I've never had gel nails put on in a salon, but have always wanted to, the cost has put me off.
A friend recommended a kit to try at home. After the initial outlay, it should work out more economical.
She said to try, 'Sensationail', £70 at Boots. Has anyone tried this or any other kits? Thanks

I have a millennium nails one which was in a wowcher offer with 4 colours, lamp, top coat, base coat and the stuff to prep and take it off with - was £70 ish and find it just as good as salon version.
You have to make sure you do thin coats and keep nails under the lamp for full 2 mins each layer, which can be a faff. But you just take your time while watching tv. I've also bought other colours of varnish from eBay (cheap ones for £2 from china which took ages to arrive but are also vv good)

If you regularly paint your nails, then it will work out cheaper over time.
