"Party" dress...what on earth does that mean?!

I was excited to be going to a black-tie ball on Saturday, outfit sorted. I've discovered it's now a Moroccan themed (not fancy dress though) do, in a Teepee, with the dress code party....aaagh! What does that mean? I have a few options, green strapless fifties dress, black lace knee length dress, black sequin skirt...or should I buy something new?

Fifties dress sounds good, maybe with a cardigan? To me, 'party' is more or less the same a 'cocktail', but maybe a bit more fun, iykwim.

fifties dress sounds great.

I think it just means not turning up in jeans and trainers or other casual outfit. Any of what you've said sound fine.

Thanks folks!
Love green dress but worried it's too summery/ or dressy... would cardi (or thermal undies) be appropriate?
here's a link of pics on my no-style blog
Please be gentle with me!!!

My personal fave is the black lace dress. But the green dress looks gorgeous also.

Wow you look lovely in all of those :)

I like the sequin skirt.
