Does Bare Minerals show up every bloody line and wrinkle ?

I got a "make under" today at the Bare Minerals counter today....came out fo the shop and apart from the fact that she buffed bronzer all over the sides of my bloody hair (I'm very pale blond so it's pretty noticeable) I think this foundation is highlighting every single bloody imperfection on my skin ! I've had a major acne breakout on my chin so was looking to replace Estee Lauder double wear with something that might help but this seems to have aged my about 10 yrs. I'm 38 and have some lines around my eyes, nothing too bad, or so I thought ? Who uses this and what do you recommend ?

forgot to mention it was Bare Minerals Matte she used as she said this gives a fuller coverage like Double Wear

HA! exactly the same happened to me. I was thinking of changing from estee lauder double wear. The lady went on about how this is light and fantastic so i agreed to let her make me up. Well it looked absolutely awful, aged me by years and felt like a mask. i kept laughing at how bad it was. I don't know what type of skin you would need for this type of coverage.

fourfingerkitkat · 05/12/2012 17:36

S*e ! Wonder if they'll exchange it...

You need to get the right colour - I was colour matched but initially the woman gave me the wrong colour and used original and it didn't look good.

Once I found the right colour and used matte I have never used anything else.

I ditched the bronzer crap immediately, always made my face feel dirty.

I also hate the mineral veil although my sister LOVES it.

If you use about a third of what they put on you at the counter you will probably like it.

The area around my eyes looks like crepe paper. I'm not sure the colour will make that big a difference to be honest and I'm too worried about opening the box to try it for myself and then they won't return it ! Aaargh..

They do take things back ime - all department stores/make up counters do even if you have used the product.

Yes, I remember being very crepey round the yes too after I had been done - they do tend to get carried away with the stuff!

valiumredhead · 05/12/2012 17:53

I used to use double wear and find this far superior especially if you use the Bisque concealor which is like magic on my skin.

kiwigirl42 · 05/12/2012 17:54

I use Lily Lolo and love it but it can also make the fine lines round my eyes stand out if I apply too much or don't use moisturiser/ primer first. If I do those things, it looks great and I wouldn't go back to liquid foundation

ContinentalKat · 05/12/2012 18:05

I did exactly the same on Monday, with exactly the same result! Lovely emphasis on totally nonexistant lines around the eyes and cakey, mask-like feeling on my skin. A couple of hours later my eyes started to sting, too.

I am totally underwhelmed, contemplating whether to give Lily Lolo tester pots a go or whether I should just stick with my normal stuff.

fourfingerkitkat · 05/12/2012 18:07

Thanks for the feedback. I tried Lily Lolo a few years ago and liked the finish but found it didn't have much staying power. What primer do you use with that ?

OP posts:
valiumredhead · 05/12/2012 18:14

I found the same with Lily Lolo which was a shame.

kiwi if your eyes are stinging it might be a reaction to Bismouth - Lily Lol doesn't have it in it.

valiumredhead · 05/12/2012 18:14

Barbara Daly primer is the best ime.

fourfingerkitkat · 05/12/2012 18:19

Thanks Valium, will have a look for that when I'm next in Tesco. I'm actually laughing at myself in the mirror...I look like I have ginger sideburns because she's went mental with the bloody bronzer !

I wear Sunsense cream everyday whether I wear foundation or not so use that as primer

valiumredhead · 05/12/2012 18:28

I just looked dirty in that bronzer stuff!

RamblingRosa · 05/12/2012 22:28

I just avoid eye area and focus on areas that need it. Try using it a)with more moisturiser b) more sparingly c) avoiding eye area.

trixymalixy · 05/12/2012 22:33

When I tried it in Debenhams, it made me look horrendous. Pale, wrinkled and tired. Even the girl who put it on admitted it did. My face also itched like crazy.

TheWombat · 05/12/2012 22:40

Same here. I wanted to like it, but I looked weird, chalky, tired, wrinkly and old. And it wore off so quickly. Maybe I'm doing it wrong Hmm.

Stillstarving · 05/12/2012 22:47

Horrendous stuff! I looked like my mother - not that she looks awful but she's 40 years older than me....
