Shoes to go with red dress

I have a do on fri night deciding between 2 dresses. The black is fine but have a nice red dress too. Only thing is what shoes to wear with it. I can't get the right shade of red. Is gold or silver too old fashioned? Is black with red like a street walker? It's red fitted strapless satin with a big bow at the waist, quite 50's looking

Black and red is possibly a bit streetwalkerish, but depending on the dress/the shoes/the 'look' you're going for, that might actually be OK. Smile

I think gold or silver would be a bit 'kid at a birthday party'; sorry.

Grey, in a dressy but non-glittery fabric like suede? Mustard/ochre? Animal print? (I'm thinking brown or yellow-based rather than black and white).

Agree grey or pewter would be nice.

CuriousMama · 05/12/2012 16:48

They're nice possibly too high though?

I have a million many red dresses and wear either red (a MN no-no apparently) or leopard print.

Black look wrong and any other colour just looks mismatched (and not in a deliberate "fashion" way).

I have a red dress and I'm wearing purple suede shoes with it....

I'm not convinced and am worried I'll look like a kids tv presenter but my DH says it's fine! Although why am I listening to him?

I've had the same debate in my head about what colour shoes but I have a new red dress and new purple shoes, so that is my outfit! Blush

Curious those are fab! I must have a look & see if our local next has them. It's actually a black tie do so I do need to be quite dressy, a lot will be wearing full length, mine is mid calf length.
Panda bear your shoes and dress combo sound gorgeous

Glad you like them. I do in theory Wink

These are my shoes. And yes they hurt my feet. But they are pretty and soft!

I agree that metallics would look good with red too, especially if you're black tie.
