I bought this lovely LK Bennett dress for a summer wedding to which I wore it with a cream silk jacket and mink kitten heels.
I'd like to be able to wear it again but am not sure how to winterise it for less glamorous functions. I thought a black cardi with a fur collar and black shoes? It is not as blue as it looks in the picture - it is purple really.

Really nice dress. I have a nice Zara boucle jacket with a bit of sparkle thread that I wear with a very similar red dress so That might be an option. Although when I first saw the dress, I immediately thought of a cream fake fur jacket

Cream fake fur jacket would be lovely. My thing is though I want to dress it down so I can wear it a couple of times. It's a 16 and I'm a 14 now and planning to be a 12 in a couple of months Grin so I want to justify the hideously expensive purchase price. I'm wondering how I can de-wedding it as it were. Cardi and opaques?

Anyone? Where would you wear the dress if you were me? Is it essentially too formal a dress for wearing other than to weddings and very posh lunches? (Neither of which are in my diary at the moment.)

A medium weight cardigan and opaques and chunky heels would make it more day time and less formal. Perhaps disguise the neck with a scarf to "winterise" it some more.

oops posted twice

Ah those famous 'chunky heels' that I haven't succeeded in finding yet on my other thread! Yes. Black, do you reckon?

Lovely dress :) as lashings a scarf would work

Themumsnot · 05/12/2012 13:29

I still haven't passed Scarf-tying 101, though. I can do a long one looped around the neck with a tunic and leggings jumper, but more elegant arrangements are beyond me.

Wedges and opaques might work.

There is a scarf-tying tutorial website somewhere buried in the midst of old MN threads. I think it was called something like 25 ways to tie a scarf.

I have the lk Bennett Davina in purple which is similar and like you would love to de-wedding it. I was thinking of getting it shortened to just above knee but am not sure. Scarves look shit on me so that wouldn't work either.

Sorry, no advice whatsoever Xmas Grin
