Can anyone tell me about those slimline pen-like facial hair trimmers?

I've been looking at these ones and can't decide if they are worth a try or not. I've never found a method that suits my top lip and whilst it is mostly unnoticeable it is getting darker as I get older so would like to find something that suits.

It's just a razor - use a normal one and save yourself some money.

Its battery powered so I thought it was like a mini lady shave. Can't use a blade razor, wax or cream, thats why I need an alternative.

I have the JML one, does the job admirably well. Top lip and my...ahem side burns. Regrowth is not quick or stubbly. Go for it.

The Panasonic one looks swish....

Very gentle. The serrated blades are tiiiny! And they arent sharp like a normal razor, more solid IYSWIM.

Have you looked at something like this? I'm thinking about getting it...

Dinner I did look at those but ucking, waxing an threading all seem to really irrite my skin, I need something that doesn't pull out the hair. But a regular razor and creams don't suit either so running out of options!

That threading thing is hopeless ime and REALLY hurt - much more than actually getting threaded or waxed only a couple of quid on ebay too

I saw a dermatologist on telly once and he said the best thing is just shaving as waxing,threading and plucking stimulate the roots and therefore encourage growth.

Yes, why DO they stimulate growth? I wax my underarms at home, and now two hairs grow in the place of one. Literally, in one follicle. Whats that all about?

I suppose in the same way massage stimulates hair growth on your scalp.

I use the JML one and it's the only form of hair removal that doesn't cause stubble rash and ingrowing hairs on me. I love it. I use it on my moustache, chin, nose and even around my bikini line. Ever so quick and easy.

Where does one buy a JML one?

Larger Boots sell them. I've used the Boots own one too, which was okay, but not as good.

Oh, and a red one by Kiss Products, which I also got from Boots, that was good.

Think I'll try to buy one this week, I'll try a big boots, otherwise I'll buy online. Thanks all, I wasn't sure if it would be a waste but it sounds worth a try.

Dinner I bought one of those a few weeks ago, it does remove all the hair but it really hurt. i found it more painful than threading but that might be because i kept stopping and starting.

I'm just trying to pluck up the courage to use it again in the hope that it will become less painful with practice

It doesn't become less painful - I really wanted to love it but it was agony!

I've got a jml one, it's handy to carry around in my make up bag to nab stray hairs. I didn't find the spring very effective - my epilator works best but hurts like hell.

That spring thing is the most painful thing I've ever tried!!

After reading the thread I bought the JML with a light tonight in Asda and it is fantastic!

Those springy things are rubbish, they pinch your skin and take longer than plucking with a pair of tweezers too. I had one and really wanted it to work but it just didn't.

Don't the beauticians etc tell you that waxing etc will result in finer regrowth, rather than more?

I think the epicare is great, it works well and doesn't really hurt for me. Much better than wax strips which left my skin all red and sore. I don't agree it stimulates hair growth.

I would worry about man-like stubble if I used any kind of shaving device on my face .

(epicare = springy thing, btw)

You get stubble regardless of what you use.
