I have lost 22lbs mainly on BIWI's fabulous low-carb thread and want to show off the results - I've gone from a size 18 in the summer back to a 14.
I have this Gok Wan Green Hot Knot Dress bought in the summer sale and not yet worn but I have no shoes to go with it.
I have a couple of nice drapey evening tops - one gold and one cobalt blue - but no trousers or shrug/cardi to go with.
I have a black tulip-shape wrap skirt but nothing to wear with it.
I have this green cardigan from Boden which I bought with my voucher from Johnnie because I liked it, oblivious to the fact that I have nothing to wear with it.
How do I put this lot together to make some sort of Christmas capsule wardrobe that will take me through a couple of parties, drinks dos and meals out as well as looking nice at home for Christmas Day?
To make the challenge even harder I have spent all my money on the children and have a budget of less than £100 to do this. Any ideas of how to deploy this money to best effect would be really welcome.
I quite fancy this Monsoon jumper to go with the skirt, but it will take a whack out of the budget. And I really need a pair of glam but not high shoes - I am rubbish at heels.

So you need something to go under the cardi to wear with the skirt? Have you got good black jeans or trousers to go with your tops?
New Look do cheap party shoes but they are not always comfy. You need a black shrug or blazer to go with your tops - oasis or ware house forgotten which one have a nice drapey blazer in at the mo.
I like the dress - you need a fab necklace to go with that.
Have you thought about wedges instead of heels.

Spend the money on getting your nails and hair done, and get a few freebies from the local make up counter.

Glamour comes from within - it's all to do with confidence. If you get these three things done, you will be able to wear an old potato sack and feel glamorous.

Work it girl! And well done on the weight loss.

Green dress with leopard low heels

Those shoes would also go with the black skirt/monsoon jumper you choose. You could also wear them with jeans a cream vest top and your green cardi on xmas day/daytime events?

The Gok black jeans at Sainsburys are good, £28 full price but think they're doing a 25% off at the moment..could wear both glam tops with those, have you got a plain vest/cami/t-shirt to wear under the cardi? Then you could put that with the tulip skirt and the jeans and
Shoeaholics have heavily discounted quality shoes, worth a look Xmas Smile

I have the Monsoon jumper- gorgeous. Can be worn with jeans, skirt or trousers. Beautiful fit. Looks nicer on as well, which is always a bonus. Wool though, so gentle wash required

Oh gosh thanks everyone. First a confession. I went shopping after I posted this and bought this which looks amazing on. So that is one party and NYE sorted.
Fauxfox those shoes are just what I want. I could splurge on them and the Monsoon jumper. That is Christmas Day and the drinks do sorted.
Travel I am going to try the green cardi with a black vest top tucked into the skirt.
Valdeeves luckily I have some great necklaces - a vast collection in fact!
Cathy I will have a look at the Gok jeans - I am not great with jeans, too hourglass-shaped.
Shoeprincess Have you washed it yet? I was looking at it in Monsoon again this morning and dithering as I wondered if it would go shapeless when washed.
World Losing the weight (although there is a fair bit to go yet) has given me a lot of confidence back. Going from 18 to 14 in three months is an amazing boost.
Thanks everyone for your help.

No, i haven't washed it yet as I'm saving it for Christmas Day. I think it will be ok, as long as you dry flat. Hopefully....Otherwise, it's £35 chucked down the drain

Themumsnot · 04/12/2012 12:08

OK - I have bought the shoes! They'd better fit. If they don't, what does anyone think of these as a fallback option? They are a bit high but with the block heel and bar I think I could cope.
