Is any style of jeans other than Skinny jeans 'acceptable' this season?

I have skinny jeans but not a huge fan of them really. I still love my bootcut ones but need another pair. Can I get away with anything else - it seems the whole of womankind has embraced the skinnies!

I think skinnies are becoming a bit "old" now. I like a boyfriend jean (on other people at any rate - haven't succumbed yet). As long as one's top half is fitted, mind you.

Trills · 28/11/2012 21:03

If you look good in them and they fit you and you like the, wear them.

I prefer a little bit of a flare myself.

Butterfly1975 · 28/11/2012 21:06

I like a boyfriend fit and/or a bit of a flare - much better shape for me. Glad to hear the time of the Skinny may soon be over!

I wear straight jeans. Very flattering for hourglasses.

TeaBrick · 28/11/2012 21:47

Nooo! I love skinnies Sad

HotBurrito1 · 28/11/2012 22:01

I'm sure they suit you Teabrick, and that's all that counts after all Smile

Beaverfeaver · 28/11/2012 22:08

I still rock my bootcuts when I don't fancy wearing my skinnies.
As someone with a decent bum, sometimes think skinnies inbalance me

snowmummy · 28/11/2012 23:23

People have been saying skinnies are on their way out for a few years now. They're here to stay I reckon.

BranchingOut · 28/11/2012 23:24

I think denim dungarees are the way to go.

sweetkitty · 28/11/2012 23:27

I'm a parsnip, skinnies look awful on me, Im supposed to suit straight legs better although I still wear boot cuts.
I have actually started wearing a pair of skinnies as I thought I'm a size 8 sod it.

Duritzfan · 28/11/2012 23:36

Compromise here - I am a real pear and find the baby bootcut is really flattering .. Like a skinny with a little bootcut ..

DewDr0p · 28/11/2012 23:38

I'm wearing flares today, with a wedge heel boot - love them

Madmog · 29/11/2012 08:31

I think any style of jeans is acceptable these days as long as they are a good fit on you. I have two boyfriend, two bootcut and two straight myself.

OxandAssinine · 29/11/2012 08:33

I wear skinnies
Therefore skinnies are going out of fashion

I am always bang off trend

EwanHoozami · 29/11/2012 08:39

If I had the $$ I'd wear Hudson's baby bootcut.

If the rest of your outfit is well put-together and vaguely on-trend then I reckon bootcuts are OK. But with mumboots and a fleece? Non non non.

DonaAna · 29/11/2012 08:54

Skinnies are such a tired on-autopilot trend. The truly stylish women here in Rome wear all other shapes - particularly ultra-long flares. It may be that jeans in general are a bit on they way out - I see much more black cigarette trousers, brocade trousers and fine, slightly slouchy mid-gray wool trousers, and they certainly flatter their wearers much more. Really many Italian women have hourglass figures and skinnies often look really unbalanced and bad on them - bootcuts, flares and boyfriends are much more flattering.

You will look stylish in whatever flatters your shape and makes you confident. For me, the long, leg-enhancing slightly flared line (worn with some heel, either wedge or cowboy) is a confidence booster. But I'm a bit off jeans this season and only wear them around house these days.

Too-tight sausagey skinnies and ugly studded moto boots / dirty Uggs is a visual cliche - don't join that crowd.

nellyjelly · 29/11/2012 09:38

I read this with interest. I am tall and thin and skinnies just make me look all leg. I hate having to tuck them into my boots as I end up looking like a principal boy! But boots won't go under the jeans.

Bootcut seem so old fashioned, straight ones are neither one thing or another and haven't found a good fit on boyfriend. Pah!

purplepenguin86 · 29/11/2012 15:45

Nelly, I fail to see how all leg can ever be a bad thing!

splintersinmebum · 29/11/2012 15:55

Just wear whatever you want.

^^ sound advice from splintersinmebum

nellyjelly · 29/11/2012 16:53

Nah. Too leggy and principle boyish.

hugoagogo · 29/11/2012 17:00

I am short and chunky and I wouldn't dare wear skinnies, straight legs for me.

I have worn bootcut in the past, but they look kind of funny to me: big bum-skinny knees-wide calves not really a good look. Hmm

If you are tall/thin then the the effect isn't so pronounced.

Bonsoir · 30/11/2012 17:55

I bought two pairs of J Brand skinny cords - navy and black - for this winter and am living in them. Ultra flattering and go with anything.

wordfactory · 30/11/2012 18:31

I don't wear skinnies often.

I have a couple of pairs oof Hoolis, but's that about it.
