Dark tights with peep toe shoes?

I have a rather lovely pair of champagne peep toe shoes that I fancy wearing for a Christmas do tomorrow evening, but I will need to wear dark tights with my dress.

Yeah or nay?

Well I'd say no but you do see the winkleman sporting this look and I think she looks quite fetching.

Sleepwhenidie · 28/11/2012 21:11

Sorry, a big nay from me too.

toofattorun · 28/11/2012 21:16

I would do black with black but not with champagne.

CajaDeLaMemoria · 28/11/2012 21:17

Noooooooo.

Not ever, but especially not with light coloured shoes!!!

SenoritaViva · 28/11/2012 21:19

Never. Pet hate.

Bluestocking · 28/11/2012 21:19

Oh no, never in a million years, you will look like a crazy lady who wants to wear her champagne peep toes but has been advised by her health care professionals that she needs to keep her 150 denier max support tights on at all times to stop her varicose veins from taking over her entire body.

HokeyCokeyPigInAPokey · 28/11/2012 21:19

I would with black, but only black.

MarianForrester · 28/11/2012 21:20

I actually think it can look good as long as the toe seam us avoided.

StinkyWicket · 28/11/2012 21:20

No. Not ever. No.

HotBurrito1 · 28/11/2012 21:20

Nope, brave the cold or lose the shoes.

TeaBrick · 28/11/2012 21:21

I think it looks ok, but it's obviously something that polarises opinion. Have you tried it on yet?

TeaBrick · 28/11/2012 21:22

I actually think sometimes that it looks weirder to see someone's crushed up bare toes in a peep toe.

MarianForrester · 28/11/2012 21:23

"Is" is avoided. Not us.

Fadingfast · 28/11/2012 21:25

so that's a resounding no then..

Bluestocking do I know you? How did you know about the varicose veins?

Bluestocking · 28/11/2012 21:31

Hi Fadingfast - I'm sure we don't know each other but I feel awful now! Blush
What are your other shoe options?

Fadingfast · 28/11/2012 21:40

I don't have varicose veins but I am a crazy lady who really wanted to wear them...Wink
Back to boring black it is.

freerangeeggs · 28/11/2012 21:43

Ooh awkward...

Fwiw I actually like peep toes with tights underneath. Topshop was all about the peep toe/tights look a few seasons ago. I actually think it looks nicer than bare toes.

I wouldn't be sure about champagne though, I'd have to see them. I like bright colours with dark tights.

HotBurrito1 · 28/11/2012 21:43

Can you re-jig the whole outfit? Wear a paler dress, sheer tights and the lovely shoes? As a compromise loike?

Bluestocking · 28/11/2012 21:46

How about fishnets? I am a crazy lady who loves fishnets, and I think they look fine with peeptoes, especially with painted toenails sparkling away under the net.

addictedismoving · 28/11/2012 21:48

Can you wear black leggins instead of tights? (Or is that also a huge no no)

HotBurrito1 · 28/11/2012 21:48

Mmm fishnets and peep toes can work (nods).

Fadingfast · 28/11/2012 21:52

Nice idea but I don't have any paler dresses, apart from one I wore for a wedding and would make me feel overdressed in a wedding sort of way. Generally pale things look terrible on me anyway, due to my pasty skin tone. And no time or money to buy anything new Sad

Fadingfast · 28/11/2012 21:53

Fishnets! Yes!!! Great idea, thanks Grin

HotBurrito1 · 28/11/2012 21:53

Fishnets it is then!

Bluestocking · 28/11/2012 21:55

Fishnets save the day yet again! Grin
