If so, is it lovely?
Should I buy it?

I've had it, I love figgy perfumes but I didn't like it as much as I like Philosykos so I gave it away. On me it had a smidge too much of that 'cat wee' ( nice) note when I first put it on, like Jo Malone's Fig and Blackcurrant/berry/whatever it was called.

Hi thanks for your reply. I tried a tester today and I honestly can't smell any of the fig. It just smells more cat wee. I am so disappointed. I spent £8 travelling to the shop and back for nothing.

It also smells a bit like a scent for older people.

They promised fig, coconut etc and I got none of that.

A lot of websites mention philosykos. I might try it. Thanks.

There are quite a few fig-based perfumes. Philosykos, Premier Figuier, Ninfeo Mio by Annick Goutal and Un Jardin en Mediterranee by Hermes are some of the best-known. By trying them on and wearing them you will know which one suits you best - or whether you are a fig person at all. I generally am not, but I sometimes wear Ninfeo Mio - I love its clarity and transparence.

Inspired by this thread, I'm wearing a less known fig perfume today - Parfumerie Génerale Jardins de Kerylos. It has a really interesting and original opening that mixes greenness with figs and a delectable gourmand background but avoids the jammy toothache feeling. Another one that is good is Eau de Figuier by Heeley.

Fig perfumes are worth exploring but don't feel bad if you don't like them. They are not for everyone, and there is a lot of variety within the style too... We all like slightly different things.

Thanks DonaAna! I am going to try and find some of the perfumes you mention in your post. I love the smell of figs but they may not suit me. We shall see...

Another one that is usually easy to find is Acqua di Parma Blu Mediterraneo Fico di Amalfi. Nor my thing - but might be yours. Comptoir Sud Pacifique alsodo some fig perfumes.

Sorry - typos..

polyhymnia · 29/11/2012 10:31

I also think that, if you like fig perfumes,Diptyque's Philosykos (in any Space NK) and Annick Goutal's Eau de Sud (which I personally wear a lot, as it has citrus and herby notes too) are much better than Premier Figuier, which I really don't like.

Loathe the Jo Malone one - horribly sweet - but am not a fan of that brand at all.

Ooo! The acqua di Parma one sounds really nice!

The original acqua is in my top 3. It's gorgeous.

Poly, I think I'm definitely going to get the diptyque one as it seems quite popular. Thanks for your recommendations.

The Acqua di Parma Fico di Amalfi is lovely, very fresh, Un Jardin en Mediterranee and Philosykos are my favourites and a good, and much cheaper, smell-a-like of Philosykos is a perfume called Buddha's Fig. Good luck.

toofattorun · 29/11/2012 19:59

Thank you. I have a lot to smell now. I look forward to trying the Fico do Amalfi one too. I can't wait to get down the shops now! I really appreciate the recommendations.

I have premier Figuier and I love it but lots of perfumes that smell great on others smell horrible on me. Agree with everyone else - try lots of different ones. Also it s very expensive!

toofattorun · 29/11/2012 21:03

I'll give it it's due, it stayed on me for almost 24 hours, even after washing my hands multiple times!! I think my skin isn't right for it which was a shame as it did nothing for me. I honestly couldn't smell anything other than a chemical/alchohol smell!!

Another vote here for Diptyque's Philosykos. Always get good comments when I wear it. However tempted to go over to the citrus (dark) side as very taken with Tom Ford Neroli Portofino but £££s
