HELP - I need a dress that covers my arms :-(

I am hoping someone can help me. I have bad psoriosis on my arms and can't find a nice dress with sleves for over the festive period.

I have a black lace dress with sleves (last years) and would like a different look this year. I am 5' 6", size 16 and would prefer something I can go and try on instead of online.

So far I have hair and beauty appointment booked but NOTHING TO WEAR! Sad

What about another lace long sleeved dress but in a different colour like this one.

green

purple

What's your colouring like? Wrap dresses are normally good for covering arms and flattering the figure.

Or could you get a short sleeved dress and get a little jacket/shrug to go over the top?

birdbrain17 · 26/11/2012 13:48

If you're really desperate just an idea I do sometimes in the winter is you buy a nice dress that doesn't have sleeves and wear a long sleeved t-shirt underneath (like from primark) or if you want a bit fancier buy a nice cardigan/bolero that matches the dress, a lot of sleeveless dresses sometimes come with these...

Thanks ItsA, I really like the burgandy lace dress (think will get anyway!) and the one from Coast.

I am quite pale (and can't fake tan because of the psoriosis) with dark brown hair and a big chest.

I have a real notion for a black dress and sparkly accessories though.

Topshop has quite a few sparkly dresses with sleeves! I was browsing them this morning and was very pleasantly surprised

SilverSixpence · 26/11/2012 13:57

there's always the Mary Portas armery sleeve things which might work for you depending on the dress style

ItsALongWayToPickAWilly · 26/11/2012 14:02

Know what you mean about the black dress and sparkly accessories trap, it's a fail safe option every time :)

Ooh what a good idea SilverSixpence, never seen those before.

OhTheConfusion · 26/11/2012 17:17

Thanks everyone Smile

Birdbrain, I am always covering up with a cardi over day dresses, vest tops, t shirts etc... even in the summer as I hate it so much Sad so just fancied a dress with sleves to feel more 'special'. I am having quite the frumpy week.

Sixpence, they are really cool. I think I may order a set (is it set, or pair?!?) in black for under day to day dresses etc. Thanks so much.

I shall hit topshop, coast and zara tomorrow and take it from there! Thanks again.

I got a good black dress with sleeves from Monsoon at the weekend. It's called the Valhalla Tunic. It's flattering on (I have a big chest).

Monsoon

Hope the link works.

Or try Pepperberry who have stores in a few places in the UK. They specialise in ladies who are well endowed.

OhTheConfusion · 26/11/2012 22:15

Thanks again Ladies!

Really like the tunic Minibmw, would be lovely with thick tights and heels... will try my local monsoon tomorrow... and I could wear it with boots and tights to dress it down for christmas day!

I have never heard of paperberry but will look into it as my massive boobs are the bain of my life!

Pepperberry are the clothes section of Braviasimo.

Slainte · 26/11/2012 22:36

While you're in monsoon, have a look at this one too?

OhTheConfusion · 26/11/2012 22:36

Ah, I am so dim sometimes. I have a few of their blouses... I think they are just bravissimo though so they must have had a re-branding since then.

Slainte that is stunning too. Not sure if velvet would add to my size 16 frame though?

You could be right, I haven't tried it on yet but would be trying on the same size as you Smile

Try these instead of the Mary Portas Armery things. The MP ones leave a gaping hole in the armpit that looks really odd - these ones don't leave any gap and fit nicely under your bra/boobs. They have lots of styles - I have the Flare style and am wearing lots of sleeveless dresses that normally get packed away until summer. Very pleased with them - the company was on Dragons Den a while back. They do some sheer ones with beading that would suit a dressy style. It means I can cover my arms and not have to wear a bloody cardi/bolero all the time.
