Got a Christmas wedding coming up, what should I wear?

I think I fancy something a bit edgy, but not to edgy. Maybe in gold.
I'm 23, size 10-12 (will probably be a full on 12 by then though), shortish with no major disaster areas on my body. Pale-ish colouring with brown hair.

Has anyone seen any good dresses recently? Don't fancy spending more than £70 but could do if it was worth it!

I don't know but I'm similar colouring with a Christmas wedding to go to as well so will watch with interest!

Have you got your eye on anything Antoinette?
I've got a couple of dresses in my wardrobe that would do if needs be but I fancy a change and a bit of a treat for Christmas Grin

Me too-I like the excuse to treat myself! I haven't seen anything yet but I'd quite like something long I think. DFIL is coming to babysit DD so it'll be our first real night out in ages and I'd like to really make an effort. Budget is about £150 and I'm a size 8 so if you see anything hideously expensive and reduced in price let me know!

I don't know whether this is really wedding appropriate but I love it...

AntoinetteCosway · 25/11/2012 14:45

Am also liking this. m.houseoffraser.co.uk/JS+Collections+Horse+shoe+mesh+dress/165725585,default,pd.html

In fact, I really like this one.

ItsALongWayToPickAWilly · 25/11/2012 15:51

Oh wow, love that last one Antoinette, that colour is so inviting and lovely. Hope you have a great day out :)

Love the sparkly ones you've linked to wonkylegs, I'm a sucker for a bit of sparkle.
I'm just debating whether to go for something tight and starve myself over Christmas or find something that's going to be forgiving on a bit of a pot belly? Hmmm...

OP posts:
AntoinetteCosway · 25/11/2012 17:56

Definitely go for something a bit forgiving so you can eat, drink and be merry!

AntoinetteCosway · 25/11/2012 18:54

Hobbs have some lovely things. In fact I've just bought this... www.hobbs.co.uk/product/display?productID=0212-9648-3001L00&productvarid=0212-9648-3001L00-MALACHITE-12&refpage=dresses

ItsALongWayToPickAWilly · 25/11/2012 19:18

That green dress is gorgeous, I'm actually very tempted by it. I love deep greens and blues, and it's within my price range!

The Hobbs one? It's beautiful isn't it! It'd be quite amusing if we both ended up buying the same dress Grin (Hope we're not going to the same wedding Wink)

GlitKnit · 26/11/2012 09:00

that velvet thing is GOPPING dont wear that

AntoinetteCosway · 26/11/2012 10:20

Did you mean to be so rude?

GlitKnit · 26/11/2012 11:35

er.. yes

ItsALongWayToPickAWilly · 26/11/2012 13:26

Each to their own eh GlitKnit :)

Have bought the green Hobbs one, hope you're not going to any weddings in the north east any time soon! Thanks for your help.

Wow, GlitKnit, what a thoroughly unpleasant person you are.

OP the wedding I'm going to is in December near York :)

AdverseCamber I was thinking a little shrug would be lovely with it too.

GlitKnit · 26/11/2012 19:24

Look the dress is vile. Get over it.

AntoinetteCosway · 26/11/2012 19:59

!! Get over what? You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine. I'm also entitled to stand up for myself when someone is deliberately nasty to me. This isn't the playground you know, adults don't generally say rude things to strangers for no reason.

DinosaurSchool · 27/11/2012 14:16

Lol at velvet-dress-gate.

ItsALongWayToPickAWilly · 27/11/2012 14:26

Ahh not the same wedding then! Although I think we'd pull off matching dresses :)

You are being a bit uncalled for GlitKnit, fair enough if you don't like it but you don't need to be horrible about it.
