Oh God, oh God, I haven't been to an evening do in years. How do I even start to find a dress?

Hope that works on phone

Not being funny but if you are size 8-10 average height and hourglass shape , you can wear pretty much anything. I'm a curvy 8-10 and 5 ft. I can wear most things . Being hourglass is the best shape . When you say long , how long do you mean ?

gaelicsheep · 25/11/2012 20:32

That may be, I know it sounds silly. But long dresses seem not to exist in the shops. I mean long to a little above the ankles. I can't wear almost anything, it is very rare I find anything I'm comfortable in. I have a pale complexion, mousy coloured fairly crap unstyled hair, up dos don't suit me, when down it invariably looks a mess. I don't have the condidence to carry off anything nice, I don't think anyway. :-(

What colour , style do you like? Do you mean a maxi dress?

bishboschone · 25/11/2012 21:15

How is your tummy? I presume you have a waist if you are hourglass . Have you looked on www. Shopstyle.co.uk? Look for midi dresses .

gaelicsheep · 25/11/2012 21:41

I guess I mean a maxi yes, but not ridiculously long or tent like. Simple, elegant, well cut, not too evening dressy, but inexpensive ie well under £80. II think black would wash me out, but have no idea what suits me really. I think a dark plummish colour looked OK once. I only have a black pair of heels. I've found a few things I like online but all way too expensive. Will post a couple of links if I can (on phone so tricky). Tummy pretty flat.

Look at the sale stuff in house of fraser & debenhams

I'm off to bed as I have just spent the last 2 hours doing that for a size 6

There is quite a lot between about 45 & 80

cathyandclaire · 25/11/2012 22:33

Or this, only available in an 8
Or do you want something a little slinkier?!

bishboschone · 25/11/2012 22:36

That's lovely c and c!

gaelicsheep · 25/11/2012 23:18

Sorry folks, been occupied with dd who wouldn't go to bed - again. I went back to find links for the kinds of things I liked and then doubted my choices so didn't post. That is so typical of me!

I can't view the links sorry. The mobile internet here is so rubbish and I've no broadband. Will have look tomorrow at work. Thanks for your time, I will come back!
