So, if you are large of foot, say 7 or above...Do you have large hands too?

Following on from the height / weight thread, and then the height / shoe size thread.

I have size 7 feet, and big hands.

It's something I'm quite conscious about, so never wear 3/4 length sleeves.

If you have man-hands, do you try to disguise them with chunky jewellery?

Do you wear nail varnish?

This thread is hilarious - and what a relief to discover I'm not the only ape-armed, shovel-handed, clown-footed Tefal scientist around here.

Size 42 feet (on a good day) - massive flapping hands like a goalie, which I actually really like - I think they make me look striking and capable. Would hate tiny little doll hands and feet like pony hooves. [defiant]

Yokel · 26/11/2012 13:13

Oh, and I'm 5'7" so not exactly statuesque...

Jamdoughnutfiend · 26/11/2012 14:07

I am just big all over - hands feet head - I am all in proportion, but you would never call me dainty! Can't buy shoes/hats/gloves/tights/socks from the high street, the list in endless. But, at the ripe old age of 35, am finally happy and confident in my own (big) skin. So i wear whatever i like and suits me and ignore the dainty little elfin people that ised to make me feel so self concious. Just wish shoe shopping was easier Grin

PerryCombover · 27/11/2012 09:52

ditto pumpkin head
no hat shopping for me ever

When I was young I was completely crucified by all of this. There is no diet to reduce your head, hands, feet joints etc. I was just really tall and happened to be friends with girls who were under average height and very petite.
I felt so so different.

I wish someone had told me how I'd end up looking

(like a foam handed, clown footed, pumpkin headed BEEYOUTY)

Sorry, I can't help but find myself chuckling at all the self-depreciation comments on here, you could easily be describing me. Grin

In the nicest possible sense, I'm glad I'm not the only one!

Hats I seem ok with, although, again I do have a larger head than most must be all the mush up there however finding gloves that fit is a pain.

I'm a shade under 5'7. I'm size 7 shoe, sometimes an 8.

I do have big hands but I'm horribly overweight at the moment, so where I had long fingers and slim wrists when I was a 12-14, at a size 18 (not for much longer, I hope) my hands look really chunky and fat.

I wear big statement rings. Small dainty jewellry wouldn't suit me at all. I've never worn bracelets or a watch. I have a big head too :( I can never find hats that fit.

I've accepted that even when I'm slim and toned I'm always going to be 'big-boned' so I'll never be petite and doll-like.

tabulahrasa · 27/11/2012 14:38

I've got size 7 feet and tiny hands, I've also got a little head and fit in children's hats - I suspect I might in fact be a hobbit...

PragmaticWench · 27/11/2012 17:56

Boerwar mentioned dainty jewellery not working with big hands - this was the reason I gave DH for needing a larger engagement ring with lots of stones. Grin

BoerWarKids · 27/11/2012 21:40

Nice one Pragmatic Wink

pickledparsnip · 27/11/2012 21:47

Size 6.5/7 feet with really small hands! They are chunky though, I dislike them. Wear chunky rings, small and dainty rings look bloody awful.

lookingfoxy · 27/11/2012 22:05

Im 5ft 10 1/2 with 8/9 feet.
My actual hands aren't massive, its the long skinny fingers attached to them that look weird! Tiny wrists and slim fingers, I always have my nails done and wear quite dainty rings/bracelets otherwise they look rank!
I have finger toes that you could scale a wall with!
Am usually a size 8/10 with big boobs so hope that draws attention away from my long alien like digits!

teacher123 · 28/11/2012 09:09

I have size 8 feet and proper big man hands. Find it very hard to find rings to fit me, and leather gloves are a no no. Shoe shopping is unremitting hell, I hate it. And consequently live for 6 months of the year in flip flops and 6 months of the year in UGG boots. Maternity leave has been brilliant, I haven't had the annual September nightmare of trying to find 'school shoes'!

yani · 28/11/2012 10:24

teacher I can relate to that! Dreading going back to work, and having to
wear proper shoes again. Smile

Foxy I can only dream of big boobs Envy and a flat tummy

oh there's a lot of us Grin I'm 5'8" ish with size8 feet and proper builders hands (i do manual outdoors work) i have callouses and everything but i still like to paint my nails (when the kids give me a minute) i wear big rings or loads of bracelets but can never get bangles to fit. When i was toned and fit i really did look like a bad transvestite right down to my farmer tan Grin classy.

teacher123 · 28/11/2012 13:38

Well, when my DH bought my engagement ring, it didn't quite fit, was a couple of sizes too small. He bought it from a high street jewellers, so I called the branch to see if they had a larger one in stock. When I told him my ring size he laughed and said 'oh god no, we don't stock LADIES rings in that size, you'll have to ring head office and get one specially made'. I got off the phone and I cried and cried and cried. It was the morning after we got engaged and I have never forgotten that. I took it to a different branch and the lovely manager ordered me a replacement and told me how beautiful it looked.

I really really hate my hands.

Yarg · 28/11/2012 17:07

YY to the shoe shopping nightmare. I've long since given up expecting to find any women's shoes to fit me (and if I wear heels I look like a third rate drag act) , so I wear men's shoes (brogues, plimsolls, desert boots etc) and style it out. Amazing how many men's shoes are actually pretty feminine looking - especially if you go for blues/browns/suede etc etc.

The biggest pain in the arse is specialist shoes for sport (walking/cycling) where the ones that fit me are all black and red with WILDMAN or HELLCAT or similar down the side...

browneyedpixie · 28/11/2012 18:10

5'8 size 7 feet, long arms and big hands lol!

gindrinker · 28/11/2012 19:13

5'8" size 6 feet, long legs, arms and hands. Long bones I think :)
