Got this today from Ocado - Micropedi hard skin remover.

It's brilliant. I got one of those medi pedis last Spring to get everything in order and this is the only thing that comes close without hours of filing. I used it tonight on my toes and, although I did manage to make myself bleed somehow, they are now soft and lovely. No idea how long the rollers will last, but probably a while. I don't think my feet will need doing all that often, especially if I remember to keep good foot cream on them.

A food blender and a bowl of sunflowers?

I use a corn razor. I use it straight after I shower and it's fab. Really quick and easy. I run it over my hard skin, it takes a few moments. I have cut myself a few times but only when I was first using it. I change the blades regularly.

I am too clumsy to use a razor on my feet! I managed to make them bleed with a small foot sander. I would take a toe off with a food blender and not sure how to use the sunflowers. Actually, out of all of those, the sunflowers with their pointy evil seeds sound the most painful.

I love power tools for the body. Have a sonic toothbrush and the Clarisonic brush too.

£29.99!! I think I'll stick with my Soap and Glory!

Where do you get the soap and glory thing - I have never been able to track it down in a Boots store.

I have a soap and glory one and it is the best. If you are having trouble tracking one down sainsburys do them now as part of their dirty works range (which seems to be soap and glory by another name) At about £4.99 i am sure it is cheaper too. Hth

I will admit to using toenail clippers to clip off the hard skin bits on my toes then trying to file them down so they're not so choppy. I have loads and loads of files and scrapers which don't work for me (although as I said, I'm too scared to try a razor) and I have the Microplane egg thing which doesn't work all that well, especially on toes. I guess it's ok on heels but I never have much of a problem with my heels for some reason.

The woman at Margaret Dabbs who did the medi part of the pedi said to always file on dry skin. She recommended their file which I didn't buy. They had a huge foot sanding machine which was cool. I thought the medi pedi was great there but next time I'll get a polish at my local place instead of traipsing through London in flip flops on a cold rainy day.

Also, this thing doesn't have massive power - if I press too hard it stops, which is good, I guess. It still works very well.

Yes to the Micropedi, I got one the other day. It knock the spots off the Soap and Glory foot file and if you have persistent dry/hard skin on your feet they are worth the extra.

Also discovered the best foot cream - German - it's better than Flexitol/Scholl/Swedish etc. Comes in different types, such as special cream for fissures or general maintenance with herbal extracts. Was about £7 for a huge tube here and here

My feet have never been better.

I was v disappointed with the Soap & Glory file. After all the raves on here maybe I was expecting too much though. It just doesn't touch the hard skin on the soles of my feet. Think I will try the micro pedi now. Like the sound of the German cream too.

Oh wait, what are those socks that you wear and then, a few days later, your whole foot peels off to reveal a new foot? Does anyone know what I'm on about? Has anyone tried them? I want to try them.

It is entirely possible I dreamed them -- if so, someone should invent them.

I don't have enough hard skin left to try a razor, although am starting to be tempted. But it's a very bad idea for me

Tharsheblows - I got sent some of those plastic socks, they have gel in them from memory you wear them for an hour and then wash off, over the next few days the hard skin peels off everywhere making a right mess, my feet are not too bad soi used them on dh, he's a builder and has yucky feet, some of his skin was dry and cracked and be said the gel did sting a little but he kept the socks on for the required time, even though quite a bit of skin peeled off you couldnt notice any improvement to his feet, glad I didn't buy them,wouldn't recommend, I found peelings in our bed, in the shower anywhere he went bare foot.

MaeMobley, I went to the one off of Marylebone High Street. It was great - I saw a lovely podiatrist - just the regular one, not the more expensive kind - who got all the calluses off, trimmed and filed my toenails and maybe did some other stuff, I forget.. I was just so thrilled to get all the calluses off, even the ones on the sole of my feet, that I didn't pay attention. Plus I was chatting, as I am wont to do. I remember that my toenail shape was perfect, too.

I don't have any issues beyond calluses, so can't tell you about anything else. I did get the polish, which is separate, but will not bother with it next time, mainly for logistical reasons.

miche8, thanks so much for that! I mean, ewwww, gross, but I'm really glad I know. And thank your husband for trying them so I don't have to. :) (I hope it wasn't too bad to clean up, too.)

I'm here to agree with OP. The Micropedi is the hounds mounds.
